What you will do
Responsible for supporting the current manufacturing and facilitating the continuous improvement processes associated with the manufacturing methods and processes in the plant facility. Also develops solutions for production problems related to materials, processes, and tooling. Supports new products and programs by developing new processes, designing tooling and machinery, and developing production controls. Responsible for set-up of new equipment, ensures proper operation of the new equipment, and to teach others the proper use of this equipment. Accountable for applying sound economic methods to equipment and space utilization to meet design and quality criteria with the lowest expense and consistent
with the facilities financial and non-financial objectives.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
- Reviews specifications and bid proposals and cost estimate requests to establish the feasibility of accepting orders. Determines manufacturability, investment requirements, product costing and delivery schedules.
- Develops processes, methods, tooling, and production controls for new products and programs; supervises their assembly and proofing.
- Supports production to resolve any manufacturing issues.
- Monitors continuous improvement with regards to scrap reduction and uptime optimization.
- Coordinates with new product development and cost reduction activities.
- Manages capital equipment planning and procurement activities.
- Plans, supervises and executes work measurement, and defines operations and operation balance to TAKT time.
- Maintains, operates, and troubleshoots manufacturing support software.
- Plans, justifies and implements facility changes to produce the forecasted volume of product economically.
- Provides technical assistance to the plant including Materials, Quality Control, Continuous Improvement, Engineering, and Safety.
- Supports Lean Manufacturing and Flow Manufacturing.
- Supports and leads 5S activities.
- Participates in and leads Kaizen events.
- Responsible for Labor Routings, Capacity Planning, TPM, and Cost Estimating.
- Responsible for Capital justification, CNC/Programming, Tool Design and Selection.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with a minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of progressive, hands on manufacturing engineering experience.
- In the absence of a four (4) degree in engineering, a minimum of seven (7) to ten (10) years experience is required.
- Minimum of one (1) year HVAC Plant Continuous Improvement Manager experience is preferred.
- Experience in low volume, high mix environment is preferred.
- Requires knowledge of formal problem solving methods along with experience with financial controls and product costing.
- Previous experience with new products and process introductions along with a working knowledge of lean manufacturing practices and procedures is also required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite Applications (Word, Excel, Access, & PowerPoint) as well as Internet software and E-mail is required.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD is required for plant layout; Autodesk Inventor knowledge is desired.
- The employee is occasionally required to lift up to 40 pounds.
