DUTIES: Develop platform feasibility, business case estimates, manufacturing process templates, equipment and tooling kit solutions, and sequence and flow of operations for the effective utilization of labor, material, machines, and facilities necessary for the production of Body in White with Closures. Define highly automated closures manufacturing processes. Develop Sequence of operations that meet thru put and dimensional requirements. Develop system cost using GM's MECS estimating tool. Perform Closures design, construction, integration, and plant installation. Apply Closure Assembly Hemming and Quality requirements. Create detailed project timelines from processing thru project execution. Participate in development and testing of advanced processing technologies for Factory of the Future. Apply process engineering disciplines and implement Lean Manufacturing Principles. Support other regions in a global business, including South America and Asia, specializing in emerging market manufacturing methods. Hybrid Work Policy - 3 days In-office, 2 days remote - Must be able to report to local office. 20% travel, including U.S., Canada and Mexico.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field of study. Ten (10) years of experience as a Closures Manufacturing Engineer, or related occupation. Ten (10) years of experience with: Providing technical direction to outside vendor sources or body shop processes; and Automated Body Shop processes. Eight (8) years of experience with: Global Closures process experience; Manufacturing engineering; and Closure Assembly Systems, Hemming, and Product architecture. Five (5) years of experience with: Project management; Plant experience involving new product launches; Advance studies and new business strategy; Closures product and Hemming development support; Body shop Tooling Design analysis; AutoCAD advanced skills; and BIW Closures Tool & System Cost Estimation - Advanced skillset.
