What We're Looking For:

We are seeking a highly driven and strategic Senior Manager, Software Engineering, to lead the Cloud Core Platform Project, a mission-critical component of the EMC Software Solutions group. In this senior leadership role, you will oversee the engineering teams responsible for delivering robust, scalable, full-stack microservices-based solutions.
You will act as the driving force behind our engineering culture, instilling a deep sense of commitment, urgency, and uncompromising quality in everything we build. By aligning technical execution directly with customer needs, you will ensure our solutions provide maximum value. You will guide the overarching system architecture, ensuring the technical excellence of a highly experienced team of Cloud Developers and Test Engineers (each with 8 to 14 years of experience). Furthermore, you will dictate the technical strategy for integrating Zebra technologies, specifically leveraging the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and modern full-stack microservices ecosystems to solve complex customer challenges.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Strategic Leadership & Delivery Commitment: Provide senior-level engineering management for the EMC Cloud Platform project. Instill a culture of extreme ownership, commitment, and urgency to meet critical project timelines without sacrificing the stability or quality of the product.
• People Management, Hiring & Team Growth: Take full ownership of the end-to-end people management lifecycle. Actively drive talent acquisition by recruiting, interviewing, and hiring top-tier full-stack and cloud engineering talent; establish clear career progression paths, conduct performance evaluations, and build a cohesive, highly motivated engineering team.
• Customer-Centric Execution: Continuously align engineering efforts with overarching customer needs and business objectives. Ensure the team understands the "why" behind the product, driving features that directly solve real-world customer pain points and improve user experience.
• Full-Stack Microservices Architecture: Direct the end-to-end technical strategy for cloud-native product designs. Oversee the development and scaling of full-stack microservices architectures, ensuring structural integrity and seamless integration across the stack (JSON, Node.js, and React.js).
• Uncompromising Quality & Operational Excellence: Establish rigorous operational policies and quality standards. Champion the development and implementation of advanced CI/CD practices, automated testing frameworks, and process optimizations to reduce cycle times while achieving zero-defect deliveries.
• Cross-Functional & Executive Collaboration: Act as the primary technical liaison across Zebra's business units. Frequently interact with Core Platform Zebra Teams and executive leadership to ensure custom application and integration software meet cross-functional technological and business goals.
• Technology Strategy & Vision: Guide the engineering team in evaluating and executing complex technical decisions. Drive best practices involving REST APIs, Open API specifications, and the optimal integration of both NoSQL (Firestore) and SQL (PostgreSQL) databases to ensure peak performance and scalability.
• Talent Empowerment & Mentorship: Act as an internally recognized leader and mentor. Empower senior engineers to push the boundaries of performance, threading, and scalability. Unblock teams rapidly and foster an environment of continuous learning and high accountability.

Job Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or an equivalent software engineering discipline.

Experience & Leadership Competencies

• Senior Management & People Leadership: 15+ years of extensive software engineering experience, including a strong, multi-year track record of directly managing, mentoring, and developing software engineering teams.
• Talent Acquisition & Hiring: Proven experience collaborating with talent acquisition partners to successfully source, interview, and hire highly technical developers, test engineers, and cloud specialists.
• Drive & Urgency: Demonstrated ability to lead teams with a strong sense of urgency and commitment, successfully navigating fast-paced environments while maintaining the highest quality standards.
• Customer Empathy: Proven track record of translating complex customer needs into scalable technical solutions, bridging the gap between product management, engineering, and the end-user.
• Senior Talent Management: Demonstrated expertise in managing, evaluating, and mentoring high-performing teams of senior developers and Test Engineers.

Technical Skills (Oversight & Architecture)

• Full-Stack & Microservices: Proven experience architecting, implementing, and managing highly scalable full-stack applications and cloud-native microservices.
• Cloud Expertise: Deep, authoritative knowledge of Google Cloud Platform (GCP), with significant working experience in the Firebase ecosystem (Firestore SDKs, Cloud Functions, Hosting, etc.).
• Core Technologies: Strong hands-on architectural knowledge of JSON, Node.js, and React.js.
• API & Integration: Highly familiar with designing resilient REST APIs and leveraging Open API specifications.
• Database Architectures: Comfortable directing data strategies utilizing both NoSQL and SQL databases, particularly Firestore and PostgreSQL.
• Containerization & Orchestration: Solid exposure to Docker and Kubernetes for microservices orchestration.
• DevOps & Scalability: Proficient in driving Git workflows, advanced CI/CD pipelines, and ensuring robust application scalability and performance tuning.
• Advanced Problem-Solving: Exceptional ability to dive into complex technical challenges, debug system-wide issues, and pivot strategies to keep the engineering team unblocked and moving swiftly.
