Role Summary

In Health Care Delivery, our work helps simplify health care by creating experiences that support better outcomes for patients and give providers more time to focus on care. As digital experiences, complex systems, and AI-enabled tools become more interconnected, we are looking for a Lead Experience Designer who can connect customer needs, business goals, technical realities, and emerging capabilities into thoughtful solutions grounded in real-world health care contexts.

This is a hands-on role for someone who brings strong systems thinking, a high bar for craft, and the ability to work effectively across a shared domain leadership model. The right person will help move work forward in a rapidly changing environment and demonstrate the curiosity, experience, and judgment to discover the right problem, deliver thoughtful solutions, and continuously improve over time.


In this role, you will

  • Represent design across a broad, complex, and technical domain, advocating for user needs, experience cohesion, and high-quality execution within a cross-functional leadership team
  • Design high-quality end-to-end experiences across products and services, using artifacts such as prototypes, workflow diagrams, technical flows, information architecture, and experience models to clarify the problem space and align teams toward a common goal
  • Help teams frame problems, identify opportunities, and make thoughtful decisions in ambiguous spaces
  • Apply systems thinking to connect user needs, business goals, technical constraints, dependencies, and integration points into coherent solutions
  • Use human-centered design methods and user insights to keep teams focused on real customer needs during framing, solutioning, and iteration
  • Drive tactical delivery and strategic impact in a rapidly changing environment, balancing adaptability, prioritization, and a focus on outcomes
  • Thoughtfully incorporate AI capabilities, tools, and workflows into everyday work, with both speed and quality in mind, while knowing what requires collaboration and what can be delegated

Essential Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in product design, UX design, service design, or a closely related discipline within a complex corporate setting
  • Fluency with industry-standard product design tools such as Figma, and ability to integrate common AI tooling such as Claude and Copilot into everyday work 
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently with accountability, delivering what is needed to achieve stated outcomes in a results-oriented environment with minimal supervision
  • Ability to frame problems clearly, move between strategic thinking and hands-on execution, stay connected to the core problem throughout the design process, and measure impact over time
  • Ability to break down complex design problems into the right size and sequence, and connect the work to broader user journeys, organizational context, and cross-functional systems
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to use storytelling to explain design rationale clearly, influence decisions and product direction, facilitate alignment through workshops, and adapt the message for different audiences

  • Comfort leveraging a broad range of research methodologies, insights, and data to inform design decisions and optimize outcomes
  • An entrepreneurial mindset, with curiosity for experimentation and a focus on delivering, learning, and creating enterprise value
  • Openness to evolving tools and processes, including AI-enabled ways of working, along with interest in stretch assignments that support personal and professional growth
  • Comfort working in complex, regulated environments where user needs, business goals, operational constraints, and technical dependencies must all be balanced
  • Proactive attention to accessibility and inclusive design across complex interactions
  • Experience creating microcopy or partnering closely with content design specialists to shape clear, effective user experiences
  • Experience facilitating workshops or cross-functional design sessions that lead to tangible outcomes
  • Experience shaping AI-enabled conversational experiences through prompt design, content strategy, and a strong understanding of conversational UX principles

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$106,605.00 - $284,280.00


This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.  This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
