Responsibilities
- Tax compliances and advisory
- Manage tax compliance process
- Improve tax processes by developing and implementing best practices
- Identify and suggest implementation of tax optimization strategies
- Review of transfer pricing and withholding tax policy of the group
- Evaluate tax implications on group restructuring and international transactions
- Must possess good technical knowledge to interpret tax laws and treaties
- Prepare advance tax computations, get it reviewed from team leader and ensure timely payments
- Prepare / review, finalise and file direct tax returns in India and overseas jurisdictions in timely manner
- Responsible for filing tax audit reports, transfer pricing compliances, equalization levy compliances, SFT compliances, etc
- Filing / arranging form 15CA/CB for foreign remittances
- Responsible for obtaining 197, 281, Tax residency Certificates, etc from the relevant authorities
- Responsible to handle all tax related information data requests, review of documents, maintain backup files, coordinate with auditors, consultants etc
- Responsible for overall adherence with GST provisions
- Review of indirect tax returns, reconciliation and ITC credits
- Review of business agreements from tax perspective and provide comments from WHT and GST perspective
- Litigations
- Responsible for drafting / reviewing, filing of tax submissions, appearing for proceedings and completion of tax assessment
- Follow up with tax authorities for tax assessment/reassessments, order giving effects, refunds, appeals, notices, summons, departmental audits, etc
- Coordination with tax consultants in relation to tax assessments / appeal
- Maintain status of Indian and global direct tax assessments, demands and refunds
- Track updates and development in tax laws
- Keeping abreast with the latest changes in Indian as well as overseas tax laws which primarily have impact on the group entities, primarily related to Equalization Levy, Royalty and SaaS taxability, DTAA’s
- Discuss the implications of the developments with the team leads
- Conducting learning sessions for stakeholders
Skills
- Functional Competencies
- Chartered Accountant with a minimum of 8 to 12 years work experience in the taxation vertical, preferably having experience in a Service/ IT industry or a B2B SaaS or fintech sector or Big 4 firms.
- Exposure to various overseas jurisdictions (Singapore, USA, Brazil, UAE etc.) in which group operates will be an added advantage
- Behavioral Competencies
- Proven work experience as a tax manager or similar role
- Knowledge of Indian direct taxes, international tax, DTAA, etc.
- Excellent knowledge of tax accounting, tax compliance and all types of tax returns
- Ability to work well independently as well as the ability to work well with various inter-departmental stakeholders to collate any required information
