As a Senior Tax Manager, you will work on a broad range of complex domestic and cross-border tax matters across all of ICON’s global operations. You will be a key member of a highly motivated tax team based in ICON’s global headquarters in Dublin, providing strategic leadership and oversight of ICON’s global tax position while supporting business growth, compliance, and tax planning initiatives.
You will partner closely with senior finance leaders, external advisers, and business stakeholders to identify and implement tax-efficient solutions, manage risk, and ensure compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
The Role:
- Lead all tax matters across a portfolio of Irish and international entities, providing strategic guidance and oversight.
- Partner with senior finance teams and external advisers to ensure compliance with all tax filing and payment obligations while managing tax audits and controversy matters.
- Drive the identification, evaluation and implementation of tax planning opportunities aligned with ICON’s global business objectives.
- Act as a trusted advisor to business leaders on corporate tax, VAT, transfer pricing, withholding tax, and other international tax matters.
- Maintain strong relationships with local finance teams, shared service centres and external advisors across multiple jurisdictions.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory developments globally, assessing business impacts and driving implementation of required changes.
- Ensure accurate and timely quarterly and annual US GAAP tax reporting for allocated jurisdictions.
- Lead the preparation, review and optimisation of Research & Development tax credit claims across relevant jurisdictions.
- Support business expansion activities, restructurings, acquisitions and new entity set-ups from a tax perspective.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to tax professionals, helping to develop technical capability and drive high performance across the team.
- Champion process improvement initiatives, leveraging technology and best practices to enhance efficiency, controls and compliance.
To be successful in the role, you will ideally have:
- Significant experience within a Big 4 practice and/or a multinational PLC/MNC environment.
- Qualified Accountant and AITI Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) with an excellent academic background.
- 8+ years of post-qualification experience in a dedicated tax role, with substantial international tax exposure.
- A commercially focused problem solver with deep technical expertise across corporate tax, indirect tax and international tax matters.
- Demonstrated experience advising senior stakeholders and supporting complex global business operations.
- Experience managing and mentoring tax professionals within a fast-paced multinational environment.
- Strong international corporate tax and VAT experience, with transfer pricing knowledge highly advantageous.
- A proven ability to build effective internal and external networks and influence decision making across functions.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate complex tax issues into practical business solutions.
- Excellent computer skills; Oracle experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher.
