We are a purpose-driven organisation seeking a Senior Manager – Talent & Organisational Development to lead our People Development agenda across Tata Steel UK, driving talent management, impactful learning, leadership development initiatives, organisational effectiveness and supporting positive cultural transformation. The Organisational & People Development team design and deliver people development and critical skills programmes to increase organisational effectiveness and ensure the alignment of the Tata Steel People Plan with the overall business strategy. The People and Organisational Development team work closely with Business Leaders, HR and both the functional and operations teams in TSUK to develop, support & lead talent management initiatives to promote & achieve a high-performance workplace culture.
The successful candidate may be based at any of our UK locations. This is a hybrid role with a UK wide remit, and as such, travel to other UK sites will be required
What you will do
The Senior Manager – Talent & Organisational Development is a multi-faceted opportunity which leads our dedicated and passionate team of two People Development professionals in shaping the People Development agenda across the TSUK business. The role will have individual and team accountabilities across both People Development Programmes and the management of the UK wide Talent processes.
Organisational Change Management
- Develop and implement organisational development strategies and programmes.
- Develop & guide change management initiatives to support business transformation and cultural change.
Team & People Development
- Create and manage comprehensive employee development programs including entry level and emerging talent along with management and leadership development.
- Provide coaching and support to managers and employees to enhance individual and team performance.
Talent Management & Development
- Develop and implement talent management strategies to attract, retain, and develop top talent.
- Management of the UK Talent Board programme optimising talent visibility and development of critical talent, strengthening succession pipelines across the business and retention of our high potential employees.
- Ownership of the HR Talent Processes including the annual cycles of Performance and Potential and Succession Planning
- Implement & measure the effectiveness of performance management systems that promote a high-performance culture and are aligned with business goals.
- Collaborate with HR and department heads to identify critical roles and create succession plans.
- Analyse HR metrics and data to inform decision-making and measure the effectiveness of HR initiatives.
- Develop and maintain expertise, industry trends and best practices in organisational and people development.
Leadership Development
- Working alongside our Global HR Programmes to embed Tata Steel Leadership framework and behaviours and programmes to develop & drive they are adopted and role-modelled.
What you will need
- Proven experience in leading and delivering the design of talent, organisational development or leadership development programmes within a complex organisation.
- A broad and deep knowledge of HR processes, systems and digital HR applications
- Familiarity with external benchmarking & best practice of organisation and people programmes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the ability to use people data and insight to influence decision-making and shape future talent strategies.
- Excellent Coaching and Mentoring skills.
- Team Leadership skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively and influence at all levels of the organisation.
- Excellent Communication and project management Skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and successfully lead complex people initiatives across multiple sites.
- CIPD qualification desirable.

Skills Required
