About the Team

Our Talent Acquisition team plays a critical role in shaping the future of our organization. We are more than a recruiting function, we are ambassadors of our culture, values, and employee experience.
In Japan, Talent Acquisition is a close partner to the business, helping leaders identify, attract and hire people who can contribute to our growth while strengthening the way we work. We partner with hiring managers, HR, Sales Operations, Talent Acquisition Operations, Talent Brand and Marketing, Employment Legal, Finance, and regional and global Talent Acquisition leadership to deliver thoughtful, high-quality hiring outcomes.
Our work is grounded in the values that guide our company:
Employee and customer focus: We look for people who care deeply about creating value for employees, customers, and the communities we serve.
Innovation: We value curiosity, practical problem-solving, and the ability to improve how work gets done.
Integrity: We believe trust is built through honesty, consistency, ethical judgment, and clear communication.
Profitability and growth: We understand that strong hiring decisions support sustainable business growth.
Fun: We believe that collaboration, shared success, and a positive working environment help people do their best work.
This role will lead a small, high-impact recruiting team based in our Tokyo office and will report to the Director of Global Revenue Operations Talent Acquisition for EMEA and APJ.

About the Role

This is a role for a highly values-driven TA leader who thrives in a culture where the only constant is change. You will lead and inspire our Tokyo based Recruiters, developing and empowering them to deliver transformative talent acquisition practices across our hyper-scale organization in Japan.

Key Focus & Responsibilities:

  • Actively coach, empower, and hold your team accountable to high-performance SLAs and KPIs.

  • Drive a unified, collaborative culture that ensures seamless business coverage and prioritizes the best imaginable candidate experience.

  • Champion a metrics-driven approach. Utilize data analytics to build, measure, and scale recruitment workflows, optimize processes (especially reducing Time to Fill), and generate actionable insights to drive efficiencies.

  • Build strong relationships with cross-functional partners such as TA Operations, Talent Brand and Marketing, Employment Legal, HR, Finance, and Sales Operations.

  • Proactively learn, assume ownership for broad strategic work, and influence the business as a Champion of Talent Acquisition standards.

  • Navigate a dynamic, hyper-growth environment, demonstrating the ability to be agile, proactive, solutions oriented and results-driven to ensure business outcomes are consistently met.

About You

To ensure success in this pivotal role, candidates must demonstrate strategic leadership, team development, and operational excellence in a global, fast-paced environment.

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum of 4 years of management experience leading Recruiters, with hands-on capability to perform full-cycle recruiting when needed.

  • Demonstrated ability to foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning within the team.

  • Outstanding influencing skills necessary to establish credibility and trust with customers (Hiring Managers/Leaders).

  • Must be well organized, detail oriented, analytical, and possess strong problem-solving skills.

  • Experience in leading change efforts (e.g., new tool introduction, M&A, re-organization or process transformation) to ensure smooth transitions and sustained impact.

Other Qualifications

  • Experience recruiting for the Japanese market.

  • Proven experience building, measuring, and scaling workflows and effectively storytelling with data to influence strategic business decisions.

Our Approach to Flexible Work

With Flex Work, we’re combining the best of both worlds: in-person time and remote. Our approach enables our teams to deepen connections, maintain a strong community, and do their best work. We know that flexibility can take shape in many ways, so rather than a number of required days in-office each week, we simply spend at least half (50%) of our time each quarter in the office or in the field with our customers, prospects, and partners (depending on role). This means you'll have the freedom to create a flexible schedule that caters to your business, team, and personal needs, while being intentional to make the most of time spent together. Those in our remote "home office" roles also have the opportunity to come together in our offices for important moments that matter.

At Workday, we are committed to providing an accessible and inclusive hiring experience where all candidates can fully demonstrate their skills. If you require assistance or an accommodation at any point, please email
[email protected].
