About This Opportunity  

The Senior Manager, Talent Acquisition leads the delivery of a high-quality, university-wide talent acquisition service across the full recruitment lifecycle. As a trusted and strategic leader, you will guide a collaborative, high-performing team that partners with the University to attract, assess and appoint exceptional talent to support UQ’s academic, research and professional mission. This is an opportunity to influence workforce outcomes at scale while driving service excellence, innovation and meaningful change across one of Australia’s leading universities.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and developing the Talent Acquisition team, fostering a supportive, inclusive and high-performing culture focused on exceptional client and candidate experiences.

  • Developing and implementing talent acquisition strategies, attraction initiatives and workforce-aligned sourcing approaches that support current and future organisational priorities.

  • Providing expert advice to senior leaders, hiring managers and HR colleagues on recruitment strategy, governance, market insights and complex talent acquisition matters.

  • Driving continuous improvement across recruitment systems, reporting, processes, technology and service delivery, including the effective use of Workday and related platforms.

You are a strategic and collaborative talent acquisition leader who thrives in complex environments and enjoys partnering with senior stakeholders to shape workforce outcomes. Combining operational excellence with a forward-thinking approach, you bring the leadership capability, judgement and people focus needed to deliver a contemporary, high-performing talent acquisition service.

You will bring:

  • Postgraduate qualifications in Human Resources, Business or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of experience and achievement.

  • Success leading and developing professional teams in a complex stakeholder environment.

  • Experience leading talent acquisition or recruitment functions within a large and complex organisation.

  • A proven ability to develop and deliver talent acquisition strategies and sourcing approaches aligned to workforce needs.

  • Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and influencing skills, with the ability to provide trusted advice to senior leaders.

  • Strong analytical skills and experience using workforce data and market insights to improve service outcomes.

  • Sound knowledge of employment legislation, recruitment practices and diversity and inclusion principles.
