Senior Manager, Systems Software

We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Software Manager to join our team developing state of the art test & measurement products. The candidate will hold a highly visible position in a very dynamic, multi-tasking work environment. The position is a technical role where you will be responsible for the management of a technical R&D team across multiple systems software products driving convergence when possible. This role requires both technical and leadership skills to be successful across the different teams/locations/products. The successful candidate must have a proven ability to utilize personal leadership, communications and team development skills to help align the teams on architecture, tools and processes while maintaining our innovation leadership.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Senior Manager, Systems Software

Responsibilities:

• Interact with diverse areas (e.g. marketing, operations, other divisions) to achieve business unit goals.
• Display experience and participate in full lifecycle of development for software systems.
• Act as a change agent, collaborate with others to create architecture roadmaps and improve development processes. 
• In conjunction with Marketing and Engineering teams, develop and maintain a product roadmap aligned with industry architecture trends the strategic direction of the business. 
• Identify any skill set gaps that will impede roadmap attainment and develop and execute plans for resolution.
• Support our "One-Team" initiative to converge on tools/processes across the different R&D locations.
• Mentor other SW leads to better enable cross-site development capabilities.
• Exercise Business Acumen to make smart business and product trade-off decisions across entire business.
• Work cross-functionally to perform risk assessments to encourage teams to take informed risks with measured consequences.
• Manage complexity and ambiguity to lead teams in execution while details are being finalized over time.

Pre-Requisites / Skills / Experience Requirements:

Required Qualifications: 

• Education and general experience:
  • BSCS / BSCE or equivalent experience (required), advanced engineering degree (preferred)
  • 5 years of engineering leadership experience and 5 years of hands on software development experience.
• Organization development and communication:
  • Experience leading in-house and outsourced development teams
  • Proven ability to develop and execute software schedules on-scope, on-time, and on-cost
  • Strong interpersonal skills including mentoring, coaching, collaborating, and team building
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and master new technologies and techniques.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and abilities
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills and experience interacting with PLM, BU GM and executive level
  • Ability to define and create project management plans and documents to present project status to senior management. Must be results oriented to achieve project goals by doing whatever is necessary to move the team forward.
  • Ability to work across sites, time zones and cultures to deliver on project goals in addition to overall company initiatives.
• Software development environment and methodology experience:
  • Solid understanding of software development life cycle models as well as expert knowledge of both Agile and traditional project management principles and practices and the ability to blend them together in the right proportions to fit a project and business environment
  • Familiarity with standard SW development tools (version control, debuggers, issue databases, etc.)
• System software methodology and architecture experience:
  • OO Design methodology experience
  • Experience with enterprise level solutions
  • Significant experience with micro-service architectures
  • Significant experience with application and data hosting 
  • Demonstrated experience in distributed systems
  • Relevant and recent Cloud computing experience
• Programming language experience:
  • Relevant recent experience with UI technologies
  • Java and JavaScript Web development skills (high)
  • Angular 6 or higher development experience
  • Proficient with C and C++ programming languages 
  • Various Network Communication Protocol experience
