Job Description

The Senior Manager, Supply Chain Planning is a leadership position accountable for managing the planning process for supply, inventory, and capacity within the D&G Business Unit. This role ensures continuous product availability by balancing service levels, costs, regulatory requirements, and operational performance. The Senior Manager works closely with teams in Demand Planning, Manufacturing, R&D, QA/RA, Commercial, Product Management, Finance, and Procurement to synchronize supply chain plans with organizational objectives.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to capably perform each of the following essential functions:

Planning for long-term goals & Leadership

  • Lead the creation and implementation of multi-site supply chain planning strategies aligned with commercial demand, Demand Planning forecast, manufacturing capabilities, and corporate objectives.
  • Build, mentor, and lead high-performing planning teams across supply planning.
  • Serve as a key contributor to enterprise strategy, new product launches, network build, and capacity expansion initiatives.

Demand & Supply Planning

  • Collaborate with the Demand Planning team to understand forecasts that will feed into ERP. Understand what is both captured and absent, whether forecasts are growing, decreasing, or remain unchanged and how that will affect the onward supply plan. Support cooperation between Demand Planning, Supply Planning, and commercial teams to ensure accurate, aligned forecasts.
  • Translate demand signals into executable supply plans across internal and external manufacturing sites.
  • Ensure robust scenario planning to manage variability, constraints, and risk (e.g., demand volatility, capacity limitations, supply disruptions).
  • Collaborate with Procurement to ensure they have insight into key supply changes that have a raw material impact.
  • Own benchmark analysis and improvement for sites within remit. OTIF (On Time in Full), Backorders, IQR (Inventory Quality Ratio), and TAT (Turnaround Time).

Inventory & Capacity Management

  • Optimize inventory levels to meet service targets while minimizing working capital and obsolescence risk.
  • Build robust Capacity Planning processes to track and report on bottlenecks, risks, and opportunities, which balance short- and long-term needs across the business.

Master Data

  • Establish proficiency in localized Master Data requirements, ensuring processes are adhered to.
  • Support Global Master Data development initiatives where required.

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Ensure planning processes align with GMP, GDP, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with Quality and Regulatory teams to support audits, inspections, and change management activities.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate supply chain risks.

Operational Excellence

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop Planning functionality both within ERP and applying non-ERP tools.
  • Lead data-driven decision-making, benchmark development, and performance management.
  • Support digital transformation and automation of planning processes.

Other

  • Perform other duties as required, or assigned by management, to meet business needs.

 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or another related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years in a planning management role.
  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning software procurement modules.
  • Effective negotiation and communication skills.
  • Experience working in a matrixed organizational structure.
  • Experience with MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters in Business Administration (MBA) or equivalent experience.
  • APICS or similar certification.
  • Experience with IFS and/or SAP ERP systems.
  • Life Science, Medical Device, or Biotech experience.
  • Experience in a regulated environment (e.g. ISO13485) with knowledge of related GMP/QA/RA requirements.
  • Professional licenses/certifications.
  • Technology/Equipment Knowledge (e.g. Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, and Excel).

 

Additional Information

The customary salary range for this position is:

Minimum pay rate: $123,000 USD

Maximum pay rate: $184,000 USD

The salary range provided covers the minimum and maximum amounts projected for this role. The base salary will be influenced by factors like experience, skills, and location.
