While this position is considered  Corporate Off-Site, this position will support warehousing operations in the Dallas Fort Worth area.

Job Summary: We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Manager of Supply Chain Operations and Automation to lead the transition from conventional warehouse operations to a highly automated 3PL model. This role is pivotal in ensuring seamless integration, operational excellence, and continuous improvement during and after the transition. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in supply chain management, 3PL operations, and warehouse automation technologies. 

Key Responsibilities: 

1. Automation Readiness: Collaborate with the 3PL provider to align organizational pallet structures and address challenges relevant to automation. Ensure packaging, shipping, and inventory processes are optimized for automation readiness. Travel to production facilities and internal shipping docks to conduct on-site assessments and ensure compliance with organizational standards and 3PL agreements. Develop strategies and implement changes to ensure the organization is prepared for a transition to automated systems. 

2. Partnership and Relationship Management: Serve as the primary liaison between the organization and the 3PL provider, ensuring effective communication and partnership. Establish and implement a Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) process to foster transparency and accountability. Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to monitor and evaluate the performance of the 3PL provider regarding Tyson Foods and customer expectations.  

3. Communication and Liaison Duties: Act as the organizational point of contact for all aspects of customer and business unit (BU) communication with the 3PL provider. Ensure customer and BU requirements are clearly communicated and met. Maintain effective communication between customers, business units (BUs), and the 3PL provider. 

4. Operational and Cost Management: Actively manage cost measures and develop a continuous improvement (CI) process to identify and implement best-in-class opportunities for operational improvement. Conduct regular reviews and audits of 3PL operations to ensure cost efficiency and effectiveness. Oversee the management timeline for transitioning inventory from the current internal network to the 3PL supplier, ensuring inventory integrity and accuracy during the transition process. 

5. EDI and Technology Integration: Manage EDI transactions between the organizational ERP and supplier systems to ensure seamless data exchange and integration. Collaborate with IT and logistics teams to integrate and optimize warehouse management systems (WMS) and other relevant technologies. 

6. Logistics and Transportation Management Oversee the efficient loading and delivery of goods through oversight of loading adherence for CPU, Dedicated, and 3PL freight modes. The Senior Manager will manage daily workloads to ensure they meet operational and transportation capacities, as well as manage drop/live trailer pool programs. Coordination with transportation providers to optimize logistics and distribution processes will be essential to maintaining timely and cost-effective delivery of goods. 

Additional Responsibilities: Develop and implement training programs for internal teams and 3PL staff to ensure smooth integration and operational efficiency. Monitor and analyze industry trends and advancements in warehouse automation technologies to keep the organization at the forefront of innovation. Lead and participate in cross-functional projects to enhance overall supply chain efficiency and effectiveness. Prepare and present regular reports to senior leadership on the progress of the 3PL transition, including key milestones, risks, and mitigation strategies. 

These responsibilities ensure that the Senior Manager Supply Chain Operations and Automation plays a vital role in the successful transition to a highly automated 3PL model, driving operational excellence and continuous improvement. 

 

Requirements: 

  

Education: Requires broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field normally acquired through four years of college resulting in a Bachelor s degree or equivalent preferred. 

 

Experience: 8 plus years of warehousing, distribution, logistics, or automation management experience.  

 

Computer/Technical Skills: Requires standard computer skills 

 

Other Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills 

 

Supervisory: This position has no direct reports  

 

Travel: 6-11 trips per year

Any listed amounts represent the base pay range. Additional compensation may be available for this position based on various factors such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonuses. Pay is just one part of Tyson’s total compensation package.
