Your role at a glance

The Senior Manager Solution Engineering provides managerial, oversight and tactical direction to India region Solution Engineering, responsible for developing and delivering innovative and effective solutions that meet customer needs and drive business growth. This role is technical and managerial, specifically focused on helping close neocloud, enterprise, and retail business via data center and wholesale product knowledge, presentation, solution design, quoting, and leading tours of the NTT GDC facilities. While the role is focused on neocloud/enterprise customers, occasional support for closing hyperscale deals will be required. Solutions are win-win focused to maximize NTT GDC and customer’s value. The Senior Manager India region Solution Engineering will ensure the highest standards of technical excellence and customer satisfaction, contributing to the overall success of the organization. This role requires a tactical and technical oriented thinker with a deep understanding of data center infrastructure including electrical, mechanical, liquid cooling, telecom/fiber, security (MEP/T) technologies and neoloud/enterprise customer requirements. The candidate shall be capable to manage a diverse team of engineers and work collaboratively across various departments.

What we are looking for

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work closely with Director of Solution Engineering at a global level, and execute the overall tactical requirements for the India region Solution Engineering team in alignment with company goals and objectives.
  •  Lead, and manage a team of highly skilled solution engineers in India, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee the design, development, and delivery of complex MEP/T solutions, ensuring they meet the highest standards of quality and performance.
  • Drive innovation within the Solution Engineering team, staying up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies.
  • Work with the Product team and assist in facility space planning and management.
  • Demonstrate expert understanding of data center design concepts and differentiators (liquid cooling, maintainable fault tolerant power, security redundancy, etc.).
  • Review lease terms and aligns with the customer’s technical requirements.
  • Ensure effective communication and coordination between the Solution Engineering team and other departments
  • Work closely with sales, product management, bid management, design, construction, operations and customer support teams to ensure seamless integration of solutions and successful project delivery.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to think strategically and make data-driven decisions.
  • A thorough understanding of modern data center and IT client requirements and environments with a primary focus on wholesale customers and their data center requirements.
  • Comfortable to evaluate and delve deep into any MEP/T concepts and single line diagrams and work with customer technical teams to integrate their requirements into our data centers.
  • Engage customers to extract critical technical and business drivers that may position client deliverables.
  • Effective at working with 3rd party contractors and vendors to aid in the design of large customer infrastructure deployment requirements.   
  • Excellent problem solver/creative thinker.
  • Comfortable speaking/presenting to groups of all sizes.
  • Proficient with software application such as AutoCAD, CFD Modeling, Visio, Word, Excel, Power Point, Project Outlook, SharePoint and Salesforce.
  • Able to work in a team/cross-team/multi-site environment.
  • Manages stress and/or fast-pace effectively.
  • Ability to develop and write a bill of materials and scope of work to meet large customer infrastructure deployment requirements.   
  • Maintains familiarity with competitive offerings to effectively position products and solutions in a competitive environment.
  • Must possess effective oral and written communications and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be a master storyteller and presenter.

Education & Experience

  • At least 10 years experience in a similar role within a related environment with particular exposure to the design and installation of data center mechanical, electrical, Telecom, Security systems, Liquid Cooling.
  • Highly preferred: Four-year college engineering or engineering technology degree or bachelor’s degree in mechanical or electrical engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Previous experience operationally managing a sales engineering team
  • Extensive technical pre-sales with MEP/T engineering experience
  • Extensive experience dealing with stakeholders to influence sales
  • Extensive previous experience in the sales operations / effectiveness management role
  • Extensive strategic and solid operational planning experience
  • Extensive budget and financial management experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Operate computer, peripherals, and other office equipment.
  • Primarily sitting for extended periods
  • Ability walk and lead technical tours throughout data center.

Work conditions & other requirements

  • Preference is for Mumbai-based candidate.
  • Exposure to varying temperatures and loud noises.
  • Exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
  • Travel required 25% of time.
  • Perform work from a remote location with stable internet connection

Skills Required
