Senior Manager, Software Development Engineering

Are you looking for an opportunity to lead a team of engineers, while working on high priority initiatives, in a highly dynamic environment? If so, you are lucky. In the Checkout Experience team we are looking for a talented Senior Software Engineering Manager that can help us deliver critical work.

What you will do:

• Lead engineers in the development of team and individual goals, providing regular and specific feedback, assessing individual and team performance.

• Partner with Product and Program Managers to clarify requirements and propose technical solutions.

• Determine different phase milestones and priorities in association with product management peers.

• Advocate for operational excellence (such as establishing SLAs, programming for resiliency and scalability).

• Lead both technical leads and individual contributors, including ongoing training and development performance evaluations, coaching and recruiting.

• Build and sustain a healthy and high performing Engineering community

• Anticipate and recognise bottlenecks in work processes between teams and make suggestions for ongoing improvement.

• Engage outside of direct organization and collaborate with peers across a senior level organization.

Who you are

• A thought leader who can craft a compelling technology vision for change and influence action with engineering teams.

• Strong technical acumen which allows you to be responsible for the technical domain; identify strengths and weaknesses among languages; and select among available technology to implement and resolve for need.

• Experience delivering and operating large-scale internet-scale software systems

• Knowledge of backend services and front-end applications (web technology) demonstrated using common API standards, patterns, front-end architecture and data flows.

• Deep understanding of JVM-based technologies (Kotlin or Java)

• Self-starter and able to thrive in a dynamic, collaborative environment

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Understand when and how to reward and recognize team members

• Collaborated with the product team to deliver and influence a product roadmap
