Position Summary:

The Senior Manager, SEC Reporting will play a critical role in supporting public company readiness initiatives and leading external financial reporting activities. Reporting to the Head of Finance, this individual will be responsible for preparing SEC filings, supporting technical accounting matters, and helping establish scalable reporting and compliance processes appropriate for a public company environment. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical accounting expertise, excellent project management capabilities, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced clinical-stage biotech environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and coordinate SEC filings, including Forms S-1, 10-Q, 10-K, 8-K, and related disclosures and supporting schedules 
  • Draft and review footnote disclosures and MD&A in accordance with U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements 
  • Support IPO readiness activities, including implementation of disclosure controls and SOX compliance processes 
  • Partner cross-functionally with FP&A, Legal, HR, Clinical Operations, and external auditors/advisors to gather and validate information for filings 
  • Research technical accounting matters and prepare accounting memoranda 
  • Coordinate reporting timelines and ensure timely and accurate filings 
  • Support quarterly and annual close activities related to external reporting 
  • Assist with equity accounting and stock compensation reporting 
  • Monitor new accounting pronouncements and SEC regulations and assess their impact on the company 
  • Drive process improvements and help build scalable reporting infrastructure as the organization grows

Qualifications:

Required 

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance  
  • Active CPA license required 
  • Minimum 5+ years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience 
  • Big 4 public accounting experience 
  • Clinical-stage biotechnology or life sciences industry experience 
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and drive projects to completion with minimal supervision 
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines 

Preferred 

  • Master’s degree  
  • Experience supporting IPO readiness and/or operating in a pre-public or newly public company environment  
  • Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with reporting systems  

Salary Range 

$157,000.00 - $192,000.00 USD 

This range reflects the expected base salary for this position, plus bonus, equity, and benefits as applicable.  Actual salaries may vary based on factors, such as skill, experience, and qualification for the role.
