  • Research, document, and implement revenue recognition policies, ensuring compliance with ASC 606 and addressing complex contractual arrangements.
  • Provide technical guidance on new business models and product launches, assessing revenue implications and aligning them with accounting standards.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to drive the design, implementation, and testing of new revenue recognition systems, enhancements, and integrations with ERP systems - focusing on large-scale data workflows from payment platforms.
  • Engage and align multiple business partners such as FP&A, Accounting, Legal, Tax, and Product in the development of standard operating procedures as they impact the revenue process and top line results and proactively ensure that all revenue impacting activities are thoroughly assessed for accuracy and compliance.
  • Lead strategic revenue accounting projects and other process improvements to enhance efficiency and scalability.
  • Assist in ad-hoc analyses and projects for the revenue, finance, accounting and tax teams.
  • Directly manage at least one direct report, including coaching, career development, and performance management.
About You

  • You have a B.A. or B.S. in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a closely related discipline.
  • You have expert experience and understanding of payment processor workflows
  • You have hands-on reconciliation experience (e.g., working with payment platforms or fintech solutions) and can tackle complex, high-volume, multi-currency transactions in a global setting.
  • You have a breadth of experience in US GAAP and ASC 606 revenue recognition guidance.
  • You have experience in researching, documenting, and effectively communicating technical accounting matters under ASC 606.
  • You have expert Excel knowledge (required); experience with automation tools is a major advantage.
  • You have experience working with databases and SQL across standard commercial databases or demonstrated ability to learn these systems (required).
  • You’re a highly motivated self-starter with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment to proactively drive results - quick to learn and adjust accordingly.
  • You have excellent problem-solving skills and experience analyzing high volume, multi-currency transactions in a global business environment.
  • You have the ability to work meticulously and maintain a high level of accuracy.
  • You have strong interpersonal and team building skills - ability to work with a diverse team and impart change across functional and business boundaries.
  • You have the ability to design, lead and implement internal controls and best practices.
  • You have exceptional analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
  • A fully remote workforce with plenty of opportunities to get to know your colleagues

What We Do

Kickstarter’s mission is to help bring creative projects to life. We measure our success as a company by how well we achieve that mission, not by the size of our profits. That’s why we reincorporated Kickstarter as a Benefit Corporation in 2015.

Benefit Corporations are for-profit companies that are obligated to consider the impact of their decisions on society, not only shareholders. Radically, positive impact on society becomes part of a Benefit Corporation’s legally defined goals. When a company becomes a Benefit Corporation, it can choose to make further commitments. In our charter, we spell out our mission, our values, and the commitments we have made to pursue them.
