Role Summary

We are seeking a Senior Quality Engineering Manager to lead the quality engineering strategy and execution across our Underwriting Technology, Connected Ecosystem, and Client Reporting portfolios. This leader will be responsible for defining and implementing enterprise-class quality practices that ensure the delivery of highly reliable, scalable, and secure solutions supporting CVS Health's Pharmacy Benefits Management (PBM) business.

The ideal candidate is a transformational leader with deep experience in software quality engineering, test automation, Agile delivery, and quality metrics. This individual will lead a team of QA professionals within the Financial Solutions & Innovation division organization and collaborate with QA teams across other divisions while partnering closely with Engineering, Product Management, Architecture, and Business stakeholders to drive a quality-first culture and accelerate delivery through automation and continuous improvement.

This is a role for a hands-on leader who enjoys building strong teams, solving complex challenges, and working across business and technology to bring big ideas to life.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Lead Quality Engineering teams supporting testing activities across multiple delivery squads and stakeholder groups in support of the FSI portfolio.

  • Establish and execute a portfolio-wide quality vision, strategy, standards, and best practices.

  • Drive automation-first testing practices across UI, API, integration, and regression testing.

  • Implement quality gates within CI/CD pipelines and release entry/exit criteria.

  • Own QA signoff processes and provide release readiness recommendations.

  • Define and monitor quality KPIs including:

    • Defect leakage

    • Production incidents

    • Automation coverage

    • Release readiness

    • Test execution efficiency

  • Collaborate with Product and Engineering leadership on release planning and risk management.

  • Build and develop a high-performing Quality Engineering organization.

  • Drive adoption of AI-assisted testing and quality analytics.

  • Support modernization initiatives, cloud transformation efforts, and platform scalability objectives.

Required Qualifications:

7+ years of progressive IT experience, with a strong background in engineering and software

quality including the following

  • Proven ability to drive software quality, release excellence, and operational stability through automation, innovation, and continuous improvement.

  • Skilled in gathering, analyzing, and documenting needs, while collaborating effectively with technical teams to deliver solutions.

  • A quality-first mindset, with a passion for building tools, content, and services that directly improve consumer experience.

  • Strong track record of working collaboratively across teams, consistently delivering projects on time and within budget.

  • Excellent communicator, comfortable engaging with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

  • 3+ years of hands-on cloud and software development experience in AWS or Azure.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of direct people management experience, including performance reviews, compensation decisions, and leading cross-functional or vendor teams in technical environments.

  • 8+ years of IT experience with a strong focus on engineering and software development.

  • 5+ years of hands-on cloud development in AWS and/or Azure, along with expertise in building applications using Angular and Java Spring frameworks.

  • 5+ years of experience in core infrastructure development and system integration.

  • Solid understanding of source control, build and test automation, with proven experience managing DevOps and SecOps practices.

  • Exposure to multiple cloud platforms, including Azure, AWS, and GCP.

  • A genuine passion for building technology solutions that deliver meaningful business impact.

Education

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$118,450.00 - $260,590.00


This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.  This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.  This position also includes an award target in the company’s equity award program.
