Job Description/summary:

About the department: Microchip’s Frequency and Time System Business Unit is looking for a Product Line Manager to lead the continued growth of the Chip-Scale Atomic Clock (CSAC) portfolio. Microchip’s CSAC is the world's first chip-scale clock, providing atomic clock accuracy that requires ultra-low power and reduced size necessary for portable applications. CSAC is used worldwide in many commercial, industrial, military, and space applications. 

Job summary: The Senior Manager of the Product Line will develop a compelling roadmap and execute the roadmap plans. The Senior Manager will also work closely with cross functional groups to develop product strategies and put them in a portfolio to present to existing and new markets. In addition, the Manager will work with the sales organization to close major deals with commercial and Department of Defense customers. The Manager will build effective go to market plans and programs including driving and managing the entire product life cycle.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Develop product strategies to ensure the success of the product portfolio to existing and new markets (communicate product strategies, features, functions, etc.)
  • Capture product requirements and interact closely with engineering to build a practical, compelling roadmap and execute roadmap plans
  • Manage the product line performance by working with Engineering, Operations, Quality, and Executive Management
  • Communicate with our sales representatives, partners, internal marketing staff, application engineers and sales to support CSAC applications and clients
  • Understand the business of the product line and build effective go-to-market plans and programs in collaboration with Outbound Marketing, and drive the launch of new products into targeted market segments, including driving the entire product life-cycle
  • Manage the ecosystem and technology alliances necessary to execute the product strategy and roadmap
  • Serve as the company’s source of knowledge and analysis for information related to market/technology trends, industry capital expenditures, market sizing (addressable and total), competitive analysis, product position and pricing.
  • Work closely with the sales organization to close major deals with leading commercial and Department of Defense (DoD) customers
  • Acquire in-depth knowledge within the Time and Frequency industry/competitors

Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or Physics and/or Management or Finance Discipline
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the Frequency and Timing or related Business
  • Creative thinker with a “can do” approach
  • Demonstrated expertise in product life-cycle management
  • Knowledge of oscillators, frequency synthesis, atomic clocks and/or GPS instrumentation
  • Excellent interpersonal and written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to work in a matrix organization, across functional teams
  • Analytical and strategic thinker with ability to execute
  • Self-starter with strong teamwork skills

Desired:

  • Master of Arts or Master of Science degree
  • Outbound Marketing and collateral management experience
  • Product development experience
  • Experience in working with large manufacturing organizations, prime contractors and the Department of Defense (DoD) winning large and complex contracts
  • Demonstrated success in the conception and launch of new products and marketing programs
  • Expertise in export compliance and ISO-9001
  • Experience creating product pricing book
