The Opportunity

The Senior Manager, People Business Partner role is a critical leadership position responsible for bring strategic HR leadership and operational rigor to support Okta’s rapid growth in India, one of our most dynamic and high-growth locations. You will play a key role in refining and elevating the People Business Partner function, ensuring it effectively supports evolving business needs while driving impactful and scalable solutions.

As a trusted advisor to senior leaders and employees alike, you will simplify complex challenges, providing actionable strategies that align with business priorities and enhance the employee experience. You will guide and develop a high-performing team, enabling them to deliver exceptional results through collaboration, innovation, and a clear vision for success. Your ability to influence, connect, and align diverse stakeholders will ensure Okta’s people strategies not only meet the unique needs of the India market but also contribute meaningfully to our ambitious global growth goals.

How You Will Create Impact

  • Strategic Leadership: Lead the development and implementation of people strategies and plans that align with Okta’s business objectives and support a high-performing culture.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build trusted relationships with senior leaders, serving as a strategic advisor to influence people decisions and outcomes.
  • Team Leadership: Provide guidance and coaching to HR team members to foster collaboration, develop their capabilities, and drive a consistent and impactful employee experience.
  • Integrated People Planning: Collaborate with leadership and HR partners to design and implement annual people plans that are aligned with Okta’s global strategy and India’s workforce priorities.
  • Operational Excellence: Deploy best-practice HR tools, frameworks, and methodologies to develop solutions tailored to Okta’s India operations.
  • Data-Driven Insights: Utilize people analytics to measure the impact of initiatives, demonstrate ROI, and inform decision-making.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with HR Centers of Expertise to deliver cohesive, scalable solutions that balance global consistency with local relevance.
  • Continuous Improvement: Develop and implement strategies that elevate HR practices, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and business priorities.

What You’ll Bring to the Role

  • Educational Background: Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Business, or a related field; an MBA or advanced degree is preferred.
  • Experience:
    • A minimum of 12-15 years of experience in HR, with at least 7 years in HR Business Partnering or leadership roles in strategic HR functions.
    • Prior experience working in large, complex, and matrixed organizations, preferably in the technology or high-growth sectors.
    • A demonstrated track record in managing a team of HR professionals and delivering collaborative achievements.
  • Stakeholder Management: Demonstrated expertise in building and managing senior-level relationships, with the ability to influence outcomes and drive alignment.
  • Business Acumen: Deep understanding of the Indian market, including labor laws, cultural nuances, and talent dynamics, paired with the ability to design HR strategies that align with business goals.
  • Agility: Ability to navigate ambiguity and implement change initiatives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Leadership and Coaching: A collaborative, empathetic, and solutions-oriented approach to leading teams and guiding organizational change.
  • HR Excellence: Proven ability to deliver integrated, scalable HR solutions that balance global best practices with local relevance.
