About This Opportunity  

At the forefront of teaching and learning innovation, ITaLI partners across UQ to shape exceptional educational experiences and support student success. Following an exciting internal promotion, we are seeking an experienced and influential leader to play a pivotal role in shaping the future direction of the Institute as Senior Manager, Planning and Operations.

Reporting to the Director, you will lead strategic planning, governance and operational excellence across a diverse portfolio, working closely with senior stakeholders to drive organisational performance, influence University-wide outcomes and support the Institute's ongoing success. Bringing sound judgement, strategic insight and a collaborative approach, you will help navigate complexity while delivering meaningful and lasting impact.

Key responsibilities will include:  

  • Leading strategic planning, governance, budgeting and workforce planning activities across the Institute.

  • Providing high-level advice to senior leaders on operational, financial, people and organisational matters.

  • Driving business improvement initiatives that enhance service quality, efficiency and organisational effectiveness.

  • Leading and developing a high-performing business services team, fostering a culture of collaboration, excellence and continuous improvement.

  • Managing reporting, performance insights and data-driven decision making to support strategic priorities.

  • Building strong stakeholder relationships and influencing outcomes across a dynamic and diverse organisational environment.

About You   

  • Significant leadership experience in a dynamic organisation, ideally within higher education or a similarly multifaceted environment.

  • Strong expertise in strategic planning, governance, business operations, financial management and organisational performance.

  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement, influencing and negotiation skills, with the ability to build credibility and trust at all levels.

  • Demonstrated success leading business improvement, change or organisational initiatives that have delivered measurable outcomes.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving capability, with the ability to exercise sound judgement and provide strategic advice.

  • Proven experience leading and developing high-performing professional teams and fostering a positive workplace culture.
