The Senior Manager, Product Development Engineering will successfully lead the innovation and execution of our NPD hardware development in Taiwan for the Electronics Solutions division of Nordson.  This includes leading the development and execution of our product development roadmaps while working closely with our customers to meet and exceed their expectations in regard to on-time delivery, performance, and quality.  The Senior Manager, Product Development Engineering will partner with the commercial and strategy teams to deepen our penetration of our Top customers and strategic partner accounts.   As part of the leadership team working on strategic growth and operating plan execution, the Senior Manager, Product Development Engineering will work to position the division, its capabilities and talent, to deliver innovation for our products and customers for many years to come.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Plans the development activities for a new product development team. 
  • Participates with other senior managers to establish strategic plans and objectives. 
  • Participates in development of methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for projects, programs, and people. 
  • Ensures budgets and schedules meet corporate requirements. 
  • Regularly interacts with executives/senior managers and/or major customers. Interactions frequently involve special skills, such as negotiating with customers or management or attempting to influence senior level leaders regarding matters of significance to the organization. 
  • Directs and controls the activities of a broad functional area through other department managers and/or technical leads.
  • Coordinates the system level analysis of interfaces, including mechanical, electrical, software and firmware.
  • Typically, will also manage a specific engineering discipline team, in addition to leading a project or program.
  • May also coordinate the delivery of customer requested customization ensuring overall system level performance of the modifications/custom features.
  • Coordinates and leads resources across global teams as-needed for programs/projects
  • Other duties may be assigned as required.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree required, Master’s University degree preferred in Engineering, plus 10 or more years of management experience.
  • Demonstrated negotiation, relationship management, facilitation, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain high level relationships with end customers.
  • Broad experience and practical application of system level interface determination and specification
  • Strategic and critical thinking abilities, strong analytical skills, and financial acumen.
