About the teamThe Legal, Risk & Compliance (LRC) team at Airwallex is a collaborative group of legal minds and risk management experts. We're passionate about safeguarding Airwallex's operations, fostering a culture of compliance and ethical conduct, and ensuring we navigate the global financial landscape with integrity. We provide expert guidance and support to all areas of the business, proactively identifying, mitigating, and managing legal and financial risks.
What you'll doAs Senior Manager, Model Governance and Data Standards, you will play a critical role in establishing and maintaining a robust governance framework and independent testing and validation mechanism to ensure model and data standards are applied across Airwallex. You will ensure the framework is enforced with regular monitoring to confirm all models produce expected outcomes in line with business needs. You will also ensure that our models and data are used responsibly, ethically, and in compliance with regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities:Create and maintain a comprehensive risk model register and model inventory
Develop, implement, and enforce model governance policies and procedures, including model definition, testing, rollout, and ongoing monitoring
Establish model risk appetite and tolerance levels, and ensure performance validation of models meets policy standards; remediate any findings
Monitor model performance, identify potential risks, and ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and industry best practices
Create and enforce data quality standards, working closely with the data privacy officer and infosec teams to ensure privacy and information security standards are met
Develop and maintain data governance frameworks, including data quality metrics, metadata management, and master data management
Participate in independent testing and model validation activities, as necessary
Communicate model risk and data governance findings to senior management, and provide training and guidance on model governance and data standards
We're looking for people who meet the minimum requirements for this role. The preferred qualifications are great to have, but are not mandatory.
Minimum qualifications:Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g., statistics, mathematics, finance, economics)
8+ years of experience in model governance, model risk management, or data governance, preferably in the financial services or fintech industry
Proven track record of developing and implementing model governance frameworks and data standards
Strong understanding of model development, validation, and monitoring techniques
Familiarity with regulatory requirements related to model risk management and data protection
Strong understanding of data management principles and best practices
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and to influence and collaborate with stakeholders across different departments
Experience in or with fintech/payments is a significant plus
Familiarity with enterprise governance tools (e.g., Collibra, Informatica, Alation), data catalog, data lineage tracking, and master data management systems
Experience with visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Qlik) and ability to work with MS-Excel and SQL
Relevant certifications (e.g., FRM, PRM, Certified Data Management Professional) are a plus
Strong stakeholder engagement skills across business, risk, legal, compliance, and technical teams
