What You’ll Do

The Senior Manager of Mobile Engineering at Gabb plays a pivotal role in ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality mobile experiences and applications that empower and protect children and their families. It is a challenging yet deeply rewarding role that combines highly technical expertise, a passion for people management, and commitment to safeguarding the next generation. 

In this position, you will lead and manage a team of talented Android and iOS developers ranging from junior to senior level. As the Senior Manager, you should have a proven track record of management and mentorship, a deep understanding of the mobile development landscape, and a passion for process development and improvement. In addition, you will also be responsible for the following: 

  • People Management: Provide technical and people leadership to a diverse team of Android and iOS developers, fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture.
  • Growth & Development: Conduct regular 1:1s, offering mentorship, guidance, and tailored career development plans to help team members thrive.
  • Hiring Talent: Partner with Recruiting to lead the hiring process to attract and attain top technical talent. Make informed decisions regarding hiring, promotions, and (when necessary) terminations.
  • Performance Optimization: Conduct thorough performance reviews, providing constructive feedback and advocating for deserved recognition (promotions, raises) to ensure top talent is retained and motivated.
  • Sprint Planning: Collaborate with the product team to review and prioritize features that enhance safety, align with the company's mission, and meet the customers’ needs and wants. .
  • Resource Allocation: Thoughtfully assign team members to projects based on their strengths and interests, ensuring use of resources and efficient execution.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Participate in cross-functional meetings to align mobile development efforts with Gabb’s objectives, fostering collaboration with Product, Design, and other teams.
  • Risk Management: Proactively identify and mitigate technical and operational risks that could impact the timely and successful delivery of mobile applications and other projects. 
  • Innovation: Continuously research new and upcoming mobile technologies, industry trends, and best practices to ensure Gabb remains at the forefront of innovation. 

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • 8+ years of experience in mobile development (Android and iOS experience preferred). 
  • 5+ years of people management experience required
  • Proven track record of successfully leading and mentoring high-performing engineering teams. 
  • Deep understanding of mobile development principles, architecture patterns, and programming languages (Swift, Kotlin, etc.). 
  • Superb communication, interpersonal skills, and ability to build strong relationships with direct reports and peers. 
  • Strong desire and passion to help individuals and teams achieve their best work. 
  • Enjoyment in mentoring engineers to develop, grow, and advance in their careers.
