Strategic Planning & Execution

  • Develop and define UGG marketing strategy focusing on the 3-5 years plan that are geared towards developing greater market share and profitability while providing focus and direction to the marketing team and stakeholders. Liaise with Deckers Japan management team and functional expertise of local and global team, to market the brand for continuously improving brand equity and market share, and contributing to identify and deliver brand differentiation based on a full understanding of the consumer needs and brand marketplace
  •  Support and monitor the team to execute PR/marketing/advertising plans & activities of the UGG in Japan to increase brand awareness and strengthen its positioning. Ensure timely planning, preparation, coordination, and approvals of all Japan events.
  • Identify future brand opportunities and prioritize areas/issues to be addressed i.e. Products and distribution solutions that would enhance the brand equity and drive awareness
  • Develop the process and drive the improvement of regional marketing operations.
  • Work with the Japan Omni Channel Team in providing strategy, expert advice, guideline, and offering a solution-based approach

Division Management

  • Ensure customer centric culture, where the primary drive is the customer experience engendering customer loyalty
  • Present the brand in-line with the global standards and policies and position UGG brand in Japan market
  • Leverage market data to make recommendations which will support the continued growth and success of the brand
  • Work with global brand marketing team to get full alignment on seasonal marketing strategy and execution plan to achieve brand goals
  • Work with Retail, e-Commerce, Sales globally and other internal teams to ensure the seasonal marketing package for Japan market are appropriate, complete and are communicated effectively, both internally and externally
  • Ensure that all channels leverage all marketing investments to deliver against goals to guarantee a maximum consistency through 1-2 year plans.
  • Lead the brand from marketing perspective to identify and recommend potential areas for brand investment with the goal of driving brand awareness and sales, above and beyond local activity
  • Identify potential product and other collaborations which align with brand strategy and make recommendations to regional management for review and approval.
  • Partner with eCommerce team to drive digital communication on UGG e-Commerce page. 
  • Lead team to support seasonal sell in and through by conducting effective sales promotion activation and communication excellence for product in a timely mannerEnhance customers' experience through VMD strategy and excusing while ensuring  it follows global directions, creative and strategic objectives as well as consistent brand story-telling. : Cultivate strong working relationships with internal cross-functional business partners, including Global Visual Merchandising and Global Retail Operations. Keep abreast of internal and external VMD best practices and market trends, providing valuable input and feedback to the Global Visual team

Education/Certifications:

  • University graduate in marketing or business

Work Experience:

  • Over  10  years marketing experience from apparel or shoes brands
  • PR and digital marketing expertise and contacts with strong media network in Japan
  • Demonstrated experience in working across geographical boundaries. 
  • Experience working effectively in complex global organizations, satisfying the needs of diverse constituents, and often working under the pressure of competing and sometimes conflicting priorities.

Skills/Competencies:

  • Excellent verbal and written business communication in English and Japanese. 
  • Proactive, uses initiative and able to provide creative solutions whilst working to budget
  • Understanding of the value of marketing to the brand awareness and positioning and recommend initiatives that have a return on investment
  • Current insight and knowledge of product trends and aware of consumer buying behavior
  • Passion in brand building in a new environment with local and international teams
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a talent for building relationships with internal and external partners
  • Results orientated and able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Hands on personality, attention to detail and prepared to handle multiple tasks
  • Excellent planning, organizing and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify improvement opportunities and solutions.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team, both local and international.
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Applications
  • Ability to effectively prepare and present information and respond to questions from management, clients, and other employees of the organization.
