Okta Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Manager, Marketing Data Operations to join our Marketing Strategy & Operations (MS&O) team. This pivotal role will be responsible for establishing and maintaining robust data governance frameworks, ensuring data integrity, security, and compliance across all marketing data initiatives. You will be a key driver in transforming our marketing data landscape, enabling data-driven decision-making, and fostering a culture of data excellence.

This role reports directly to the Director, Marketing Data Operations & Technology (MDOT), and will work closely with Marketing Analytics, Marketing Systems Engineers, and D&I to optimize our marketing data ecosystem.

ResponsibilitiesData Governance 
  • Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive data governance frameworks, policies, and procedures to ensure the integrity, accuracy, and security of marketing data assets.

  • Lead data stewardship efforts, including data classification, ownership assignment, and protection strategies across multiple Marketing systems - Adobe Analytics, Snowflake, Marketo, Salesforce, etc. 

  • Champion data governance best practices across the marketing organization and promote a data-first mindset.

  • Ensure strict compliance with data privacy and security regulations, including GDPR, and other relevant industry and country standards.

  • Identify and implement continuous improvements in marketing data governance. 

  • Establish and enforce protocols for the continuous review and updating of marketing data taxonomies.

  • Ensure strict governance and compliance with agreed-upon taxonomies across all marketing systems and reporting tools.

Data Process Management

  • Continuously review and refine marketing data processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.

  • Maintain and update comprehensive data process documentation, and conduct regular training sessions for all teams involved in data processes, including Data Engineers, Analytics, and Strategy & Planning teams.

  • Implement process governance and project management methodologies to ensure all teams adhere to best practices for data quality and accuracy.

Data Quality Assurance
  • Collaborate closely with the D&I team to ensure the timely delivery of accurate and high-quality marketing data.

  • Serve as the primary point of escalation for any data quality issues that may arise within the marketing organization.

  • Own and manage strategic use cases and technical roadmaps for our data MarTech systems including Clay, Clearbit, StackMoxie, Adobe Analytics, and BigQuery, etc.

AI Strategy & Innovation
  • Drive the vision for leveraging AI within marketing data operations and governance.

  • Identify, champion, and lead pilot programs and use cases to explore and unlock the potential of AI for enhanced data quality, automation, insights, and predictive capabilities.

  • Work closely with D&I and analytics teams to evaluate and implement AI/ML solutions that streamline data processes, improve data accuracy, and generate deeper marketing insights.

  • Stay abreast of emerging AI trends and technologies relevant to data management and marketing, recommending strategic adoption where appropriate.

Stakeholder Management & Leadership
  • Act as the key point of contact for marketing stakeholders on data-related projects, collaborating to understand their data needs and developing robust solutions.

  • Serve as a critical integration point between Marketing, Marketing Strategy & Operations (MS&Os), and Data Specialists (D&I).

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of global data operations engineers, fostering a high-performing and collaborative environment.

  • Drive the roadmap and regular report to leadership on data governance initiatives

Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience in data management, data operations, or a related field, with a strong focus on data governance.

  • 3+ years of experience in a leadership or management role, leading and developing data-focused teams.

  • Deep knowledge of data management principles, including data governance, data quality, data security, and data lifecycle management.

  • Solid grasp of enterprise applications and their role in supporting operational and strategic business functions within a marketing context.

  • Proficiency with SQL and business intelligence (BI) tools and reporting platforms (e.g. Tableau, Adobe Analytics/GaA4, Looker).

  • Solid grasp of key Marketing Systems software and supporting Marketing workflows (e.g. Marketo, 6sense, Salesforce, Lead Scoring, Lead Routing, etc).

  • Proficiency with data cleansing, alerting, and enrichment tools (e.g. Clay, StackMoxie). 

  • Knowledge of data integration and interoperability between systems (e.g., APIs, middleware, data lakes/warehouses).

  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex data projects and drive successful outcomes.

  • Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into understandable business language.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for detail.

  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

The annual base salary range for this position for candidates located in the San Francisco Bay area is between:
$177,000$256,000 USD

Below is the annual base salary range for candidates located in California, Colorado, New York and Washington. Your actual base salary will depend on factors such as your skills, qualifications, experience, and work location. In addition, Okta offers equity (where applicable), bonus, and benefits, including health, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), flexible spending account, and paid leave (including PTO and parental leave) in accordance with our applicable plans and policies. The annual base salary range for this position for candidates located in California (excluding San Francisco Bay Area), Colorado, New York, and Washington is between:
$158,000$236,000 USD
