Job Description
The Sr. Manager Market Access at Kite-Gilead Sciences in Milan, Italy will be responsible for a broad range of MA matters in Italy focusing on Oncology. The Sr. Manager will manage MA strategy and planning, pricing, value demonstration, reimbursement matters, and health economic analysis together with the rest of the Italian MA team. He/she will work closely together also with other Gilead functions, and also spend time interacting with key external stakeholders (e.g. authorities, payers, clinical experts).
The job requirements may be summarized as (detailed work tasks are specified below):
- Reporting to the Director Market Access and Reimbursement, the Sr Manager will work broadly to secure and maintain market access for Gilead’s product portfolio in Italy
- Will perform all tasks related to market access in one therapeutic area, in particular:
- Market access strategy
- Reimbursement dossier preparation
- Value story and tool development
- Cost-effectiveness and budget impact analysis
- Pricing
- Payer and other key stakeholder management
- Study design and data collection
- Health care policy
- Will work with Head of Market Access in P&R strategy and support negotiation process
- May manage cross-functional teams and work groups. Be part of Brand Teams, where relevant
- Will work closely with MA, Medical, Commercial and other Italian colleagues, external consultants, international HQ and other Gilead affiliates.
Detailed work tasks
The role includes, but is not limited to, the following tasks:
MA strategy and payer & stakeholder management
- Helps develop and implement the Italian Market Access, Reimbursement strategy
- Develops and coordinates National P&R dossiers and Regional dossiers
- Manages and develops payer and other key stakeholder relations
- Develops and implements tactics to drive formulary placement where applicable
Development and communication of market access tool and materials
- Develops and communicates value stories, value messages and value tools to external and internal audiences
- Develops (often together with the MA team in Milan and/or external vendors) cost-effectiveness models, budget impact models, and other health economic tools
- Communicates cost-effectiveness and budget impact analyses to national and/or regional/local stakeholders
- Based on available literature, prepare material (slides and promotional material) on the economic value of Gilead products
- Understands and utilizes medical and epidemiological information to prepare supportive documents for negotiations with various stakeholders in the reimbursement, pricing and budget processes
- Assesses and occasionally plans outcomes research and health economics studies and data collections projects.
Pricing
- Develops local pricing proposals consistent with the global pricing strategy and manages price notifications, reference pricing procedures.
- Develops pricing deck in order to obtain the Global Value Access mandate to perform local price negotiation
Formal qualifications
Ideally, the successful applicant should have:
- A Master of Science or PhD degree in Economics, Health Economics, Business studies, Medicine, Pharmacy, or another relevant topic
- Robust experience from market access and/or health economics work (in the industry or elsewhere) in the area of oncology/haematology
- Solid understanding of MA processes and the goals and strategies of payers and other stakeholders in Italy. Experience in managing market access projects with key Regional stakeholders is a plus.
- An analytical mindset,
- Strong quantitative analysis skills,
- Deep understanding of the Italian reimbursement systems
- Solid experience in negotiation with AIFA
- Previous experience as Field Market Access is preferred.
