About the Role:

As a Senior Manager, Machine Learning within Risk, you'll lead a team building machine learning and data science solutions for some of the toughest challenges in the financial services industry. Your work will directly impact our customer experience and the profitability of our business. This is a dynamic role, where you'll combine research and engineering to out-perform bad actors for the benefit of our customers. Model performance for fraud and scam prevention is a tremendous lever for improving customer experience and financial inclusion. It's also a critical vector for preventing financial losses and driving profitability. You'll report to our Director of Engineering.

You Will:

  • Lead and grow a team of Machine Learning Engineers and Data Scientists who are building machine learning solutions for fraud and scam prevention
  • Build productive relationships and drive cross-team efforts & outcomes with partner teams such as platform teams, data engineering teams, and product management
  • Define frameworks for evaluating offline and online performance of models in consideration of adversarial dynamics
  • Accelerate the model development & research processes via introduction of best practices, improved tooling, and improved ML systems design
  • Foster a close feedback loop with our Risk operations teams so we're constantly improving our models in response to evolving trends
  • Evaluate and introduce new algorithms and model architectures to improve model performance
  • Install and cultivate a first-principles approach to defining our model objectives, ground truth data and labels

You Have:

  • 3+ years of experience in management roles across machine learning and engineering
  • 10+ years of experience across machine learning, data science, and engineering
  • Experience with managing, growing, and coaching a team of machine learning engineers and data scientists up to the Staff level
  • Solid background in ML systems design and building teams with a strong engineering skill set
  • Experience managing and streamlining ML research funnels
  • Excellence in building productive relationships with partner teams
  • Strength in keeping teams directed at the most important customer and business challenges

Compensation Details. The starting base salary range for this position is typically $194,000-$242,000. In the U.S., Remitly employees are shareholders in our Company and equity is part of our total compensation plan.
