About the role
- This is Opendoor's lifecycle infrastructure architect role—you'll design and build the templates, platforms, and AI-powered workflows that enable our lifecycle team to ship personalized campaigns at scale. Your job is to create lean, in-house technical capability powered by AI and automation that supports millions of customer touchpoints annually.
- You'll own the systems that make lifecycle marketing fast and effective: CDP audience definitions, Iterable campaign infrastructure, AI-generated email templates, and the production workflows that enable our lifecycle team to ship programs at speed. That means: building modular email/SMS templates that AI populates with dynamic content, managing our CDP as the audience brain, ensuring deliverability and compliance, and creating self-serve campaign tools that 10x team productivity. You'll also drive cross-functional work with Engineering (event instrumentation) and Product (data requirements) to get critical infrastructure work prioritized.
What you'll do
1. Campaign Infrastructure & AI-Powered Templates
- Design modular email/SMS/push template systems and architect AI-powered workflows (Claude, Gemini etc.) to generate designs and HTML/CSS at scale
- Build self-serve platforms enabling the team to execute programs independently with 10x productivity improvement
- Create dynamic content systems that personalize based on user data and behavior
- Maintain brand consistency and build testing roadmaps for template optimization
2. Iterable & CDP Platform Ownership
- Own Iterable configuration, workflows, and lifecycle journeys (welcome, re-engagement, nurture programs)
- Define and maintain audiences via our CDP, partnering with Engineering on event instrumentation requirements
- Sync audiences from CDP to Iterable, managing governance, naming conventions, and clean data flows
- Train team on platform capabilities and self-serve campaign creation
3. Deliverability, Compliance & Campaign Production
- Ensure email/SMS deliverability, compliance (CAN-SPAM, GDPR, TCPA), and global lifecycle rules (frequency capping, consent management, suppression lists)
- QA campaigns across devices, email clients, dark mode, and accessibility
- Run end-to-end production: brief → design → development → QA → deploy
- Coordinate with Creative, Localization, Product, Engineering, and Legal partners
4. AI & Automation
- Implement AI tools for email design, copywriting, and content personalization at scale
- Build automation for campaign QA, rendering tests, deployment, and repetitive tasks (broken link checks, image optimization, inbox testing)
- Train team on AI tools and self-serve capabilities
5. Campaign Performance & Optimization
- Support rapid lifecycle A/B testing infrastructure
- Troubleshoot deliverability/engagement issues using Iterable reporting and data warehouse data
- Surface technical optimization opportunities and insights (send time, segmentation, template performance)
- Partner with Growth Science for systematic campaign measurement and attribution
What You'll Need
Technical Skills:
- Expert in HTML/CSS for responsive email templates, strong experience with Iterable/Braze/Salesforce Marketing Cloud and CDP platforms
- Comfortable with APIs, webhooks, email rendering, deliverability optimization, and design tools (Figma)
- Proficient with AI tools for design, content and template generation, as well as data analysis
Experience:
- 5-7+ years in lifecycle marketing operations building enterprise-scale email/SMS programs (millions of sends annually)
- Track record building infrastructure that scales team productivity 2-3x through AI and automation
- Proven ability to drive work through Engineering teams without direct authority and influence roadmaps
- Deep expertise in lifecycle strategy, journey mapping, segmentation, behavioral triggers, dynamic content, and compliance (CAN-SPAM, GDPR, TCPA)
Mindset:
- Platform architect: Design infrastructure and self-serve systems that enable scale
- AI-native: Proven track record using AI to generate designs, code, and content with quality control
- High agency senior IC: You architect solutions, prototype independently, and build them yourself

- Experience in high-consideration, high-value transactional businesses (real estate, auto, financial services)
- Segment Personas, mobile push, in-app messaging, or external partnership experience
Skills Required
