The Senior Manager, Learning Designer is responsible for collaborating with professionals across the organization, partnering directly with subject matter experts (SMEs), and leading the design of modern learning solutions that drive business impact and performance. This role will focus on creating front-end learner experiences enhanced by Generative AI capabilities and tools, ensuring interactions are intuitive, engaging, and personalized. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated excellence in human-centered design and learning design strategy, while also bringing experience in leveraging Generative AI to create innovative, scalable learning experiences. Familiarity with learning design tools and technology is essential to ensure solutions are interactive, adaptable, and aligned with business needs. Success in this role requires strong operational execution, the ability to navigate complex and matrixed organizations, effective stakeholder management, optimization of vendor partnerships, and an AI-driven growth mindset for ongoing professional development. 

This role will report to the Director, Learning Experience supporting Global Product and Value Added Solutions (VAS) Learning at Visa University.  

Responsibilities:

Learning Strategy & Instructional Design

  • Partner with the Director of Global Product & VAS Learning Experience and learning partners on upcoming roadmaps/projects engaging in discovery, design, capacity planning and resourcing
  • Integrate Generative AI into both content development and learner experience design—using AI-driven personalization, adaptive pathways, and conversational interfaces to elevate engagement and scalability.
  • Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) across Visa to understand learning needs and design effective and efficient learning curriculum and solutions, leveraging the latest in adult learning principles, internal guidelines, accessibility/WCAG, and design thinking
  • Design and develop innovative and scalable global learning solutions using immersive learning technologies that leverage AI, methods and formats (i.e., rapid eLearning authoring tools, custom graphics, audio, and video) to meet business objectives and drive impact
  • Demonstrate proficiency in designing for multiple learning modalities, including virtual/instructor-led training, collaborative/social, and on-demand learning solutions to support global audiences
  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging learning technologies—including the integration of generative AI into both content development and the learner experience—to continuously elevate our learning products and solutions. 

Vendor Management

  • Understanding of learning design principles to review vendor-created content and ensure it aligns with learner needs 
  • Engage with vendors to scale and augment development of learning interventions and team capacity
  • Handling unexpected project roadblocks such as delays, budget overruns, or stakeholder feedback that requires content redesign
  • Anticipating and mitigating vendor-delivered content risks if deliverables do not meet expectations

Program & Project Management

  • Foster strong collaborative relationships with business stakeholders to ensure alignment of learning solutions and drive successful project outcomes and satisfaction.
  • Partner with program management, facilitation, business enablement, and other project members to ensure learning solutions are implemented seamlessly, on time, and within budget
  • Manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment while ensuring delivery of best-in-class experiences

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in the office will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager. 

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • 8 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or at least 5 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 2 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 9 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or 7 or more relevant years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 3 or more years of experience with a PhD10 or more years of relevant experience with a bachelor’s degree, or 8+ years with an advanced degree (e.g., Master’s, MBA, JD, MD).
  • 8 or more years of relevant experience with a bachelor’s degree, or at least 6 years with an advanced degree (e.g., Master’s, MBA, JD, MD).
  • Demonstrated expertise in human-centered and instructional design methodologies (e.g., ADDIE, Agile, Design Thinking) to rapidly create and deliver measurable, high-quality learning solutions across modern channels (e.g., video, microlearning, social/collaborative, mobile, experiential, adaptive, game-based, performance support).
  • Proven ability to leverage generative AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT) to enhance workflow efficiency, accelerate content creation, and drive innovation in learning solution design and delivery.
  • Experience designing and optimizing front-end learner experiences enhanced by Generative AI capabilities—such as adaptive pathways, conversational interfaces, and personalized content delivery, content creation.      
  • Mastery of a variety of authoring tools (e.g., Storyline, Rise, Camtasia, Synthesia) and proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, including building executive-level PowerPoint presentations, while following established design guidelines and templates.
  • Experience designing, developing, and deploying learning solutions within Learning Management Systems (LMS) or Learning Experience Platforms (LXP), with a strong understanding of learning technology ecosystems.
  • Demonstrated commitment to inclusive and accessible learning design, applying best practices in diversity, equity, and accessibility (e.g., WCAG).
  • Strong analytical skills with experience evaluating learning effectiveness through data analysis, learner feedback, and key performance indicators to inform continuous improvement.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with a proven ability to work cross-functionally, manage vendor and stakeholder relationships, guide internal teams, and provide strategic feedback to ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Skilled at identifying and resolving project roadblocks (such as delays, budget overruns, or scope changes), prioritizing tasks, and escalating issues as needed to deliver project milestones on time and within scope.
  • Proven ability to rapidly design, develop, and deploy learning solutions in response to evolving business needs and fast-changing market conditions.
  • Demonstrated adaptability, initiative, and resourcefulness in dynamic environments, including supporting learning initiatives during periods of organizational change or transformation.
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently and in agile, cross-functional teams, and committed to delivering exceptional user experiences that support overall business strategies.
  • Experience with just-in-time, collaborative, and adaptive learning platforms (e.g., Nomadic, Intrepid, WalkMe).
  • Background supporting global corporate organizations, ideally within product functions; Payments industry knowledge strongly preferred.
  • Ability to translate content into engaging visual and multimedia learning experiences, using graphics, animation, and audio/video.
  • Understanding of change management principles and application in learning or organizational initiatives.
  • Experience designing and delivering comprehensive upskilling programs that drive measurable capability growth and support organizational transformation.

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for this position is 127,300.00 to 204,100.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity. Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401 (k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Program.
