The Role

Role summary/purpose of job

To design and deliver high-impact leadership development programs for senior leaders and partners, fostering strategic leadership capabilities, driving business performance, and ensuring alignment with the firm's partner leadership framework

Key responsibilities and deliverables

  • Strategic Alignment / Needs Analysis / Competency Modelling

    • Align leadership development initiatives with the firm's overall business strategy, strategic priorities, and long-term vision.

    • Collaborate with senior stakeholders to understand evolving business needs and translate them into relevant development programs.

    • Conduct comprehensive needs assessments using diverse methodologies (interviews, surveys, 360-degree feedback, performance data) to identify individual and organizational development gaps.

  • Program Design & Curriculum Development / Partner Leadership Framework Alignment

    • Provide subject matter expertise and input to help design and develop innovative, blended learning programs, including workshops, coaching, mentoring, online modules, and experiential learning opportunities.

    • Curate and develop high-quality learning materials, including case studies, simulations, and interactive exercises.

    • Incorporate best practice and new approaches (including technology enabled solutions and learning in the flow of work) in all leadership programs

    • Ensure all leadership development initiatives are aligned with the firm's partner leadership framework, reinforcing core values, behaviors, and ethical standards.

  • Supplier Management & Vendor Relations:

    • Help source, evaluate, and manage relationships with external vendors, including coaches, facilitators, consultants, and technology providers.

    • Negotiate contracts and ensure vendor performance meets program objectives.

  • Program Facilitation & Delivery:

    • Work closely with guest presenters and supplier facilitators to deliver impactful sessions during workshops.

    • Where appropriate facilitate engaging and impactful leadership development workshops and sessions, fostering a collaborative and developmental learning environment.

  • Stakeholder Management & Communication:

    • Build and maintain strong relationships with senior leaders, course sponsores, and key stakeholders across the firm.

    • Communicate program objectives, progress, and outcomes effectively to all stakeholders.

  • Case Study Development & Knowledge Sharing:

    • Develop and curate relevant case studies that reflect the firm's strategic challenges, leadership expectations, and best practices.

    • Promote knowledge sharing and peer learning among senior leaders and partners.

  • Evaluation & Measurement & Reporting:

    • Develop and implement robust evaluation strategies to measure program effectiveness and ROI.

    • Analyse data, gather feedback, and provide detailed reports on program impact and outcomes.

Key requirements

  • Extensive experience in developing and implementing senior leadership development programs, preferably within professional services firms. Other industries would also be appropriate if the experience is commensurate.

  • Strong understanding of leadership development methodologies.

  • Experience with learning management systems (LMS) and other learning technologies.

  • Experience working in a global environment within a highly matrixed organization.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.

  • Strong project management and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in New York and California, Freshfields is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This compensation range is specific to the States of New York and California and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $150,000 to $300,000.
