Job Responsibilities:
This role will be responsible for managing IT sourcing and vendor management category plans designed to bring value to Magna globally. The candidate needs to be able to show value by executing cost optimization strategies while supporting the transformation of the function working collaboratively with stakeholders and suppliers on subcategory plans and maintaining differentiated processes based on total risk that enables the business.
Responsibilities

  • Objectives
    • Align department objectives and associated metrics with those of the business and IT (including risk, security, and enterprise architecture).
  • Policy
    • Support and develop policies, standards, and processes for vendor interaction.
    • Support and enhance IT sourcing frameworks and IT procurement procedures and processes that balance cost, risk and agility.
    • Include assessment of environmental sustainability performance into sourcing and procurement actions.
  • Strategy
    • Develop category and sub-category plans through a collaborative and inclusive approach, that delivers to the IT and business strategy priorities.
    • Deliver mature key sourcing and procurement competencies, such as business relationship management, stakeholder collaboration, category and subcategory execution, best practices for negotiation, analytics, project management, finance, and communication.
    • Support the evolvement of sourcing and vendor management as a strategic function.
  • Communications
    • Expertly present all pertinent vendor and/or industry trends to stakeholders and propose updates and improvements to optimize key strategies.
    • Manage the communication process with vendors, including what information should be communicated, when and by whom, to ensure that appropriate leverage is preserved.
  • Market Intelligence
    • Keep relevant of industry trends that have an impact on the IT sourcing strategy, leveraging personal and professional experience, advisory partners, stakeholders' collaboration with team members.
    • Identify the drivers, shifts, market dynamics and trends to advise the business and IT teams of the most effective sourcing and procurement strategies across all IT categories.
    • Identify and leverage relevant third-party market intelligence sources.
  • Execution
    • Work closely with stakeholders (IT, business, vendors) to lead major sourcing initiatives proactively.
    • Identify cost optimization opportunities for best-in-class technology products and services balancing cost control, risk mitigation and speed across the company/globe and present a concise business case/plan to stakeholders.
    • Align to organization's goals and objectives supporting business agility, speed, and risk management, through automation or the adoption of new technology and leveraging internal and external data sources to maximize outcomes.
    • Identify and evaluate the best options for solutions, which may include acquisition of IT products, outsourcing or insourcing, or other alternatives such as joint ventures, brokering vendor partnerships or potential IT acquisitions evaluating internal and external forces.
    • Manage inputs and updates to the tools required to capture and analyze relevant data and information. (Use of WSS (Workday Strategic Sourcing), Excel, Power Point, SharePoint and Power BI).
    • Lead the negotiation strategy and negotiation team for IT contracts, for HW, SW, Telecommunication and IT Professional Services while serving as the point of escalation for vendor issues and driving these to resolution.

Skills

  • Demonstrates accountability, while also holding accountability to achieve planned outcomes with integrity making appropriate decisions and escalate when required.
  • Strong analytical and negotiation skills and knowledge of the global IT product and services market trends particularly with manufacturing.
  • Excellent relationship-building, communication and presentation skills in complex vendor and internal customer relationship environments, able to influence and drive change.
  • Knowledgeable in technology contract terms and legal issues.
  • Ability to manage conflict and resolve effectively.
  • Results focused.


Education & Training

  • Bachelor's degree in business management, supply chain, information technology or a related field, or an equivalent combination of experience, skills, training, and education.
  • Master's degree, Master of Business Administration (MBA) is welcomed.
  • Certification NISCL (National Institute for Supply Chain Leaders), Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) qualification, or APICS Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) are a plus.


Experience

  • A broad understanding of IT sourcing trends and their potential implications to the business.
  • Comfortable in addressing strategic vendor relationships and developing strategies that look to reduce overall cost or risk.
  • Other functional experience, particularly in IT, business strategy, business analysis and/or finance is an advantage.
  • Understanding of IT asset management.
  • Ten or more years in IT sourcing and/or procurement and/or vendor management, with at least five years as an IT sourcing or category manager.

Regular Travel: up to 25% of the time.
