Job Summary:
This incumbent leads the assessment, standardization, and uplift of Operational Technology (OT) across the company’s solar, wind, and battery energy storage (BESS) sites. The role is accountable for evaluating site SCADA systems, networks, and telecom/ISP setups; identifying cybersecurity and infrastructure gaps; and driving remediation and modernization programs aligned to recognized OT security standards (e.g., ISA/IEC 62443, NIST SP 800-82). The incumbent sets feet-wide reference architectures, governs OT change control, manages vendors and ISPs, and partners closely with Site Operations and Corporate IT/Security to ensure safe, reliable, and secure plant operations. The role requires frequent domestic travel and occasional international travel to conduct on-site assessments, stakeholder engagement, and project delivery, and reports to the GM, Infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive OT assessments at all solar, wind, and BESS sites (SCADA, network, telecom/ISP, remote access, endpoint/security).
Benchmark and uplift cybersecurity controls against OT standards (ISA/IEC 62443, NIST 800-82, ISO 27001 mappings).
Define and enforce standard OT reference architectures (segmentation, firewalls, VPN, DMZ/jump hosts, backup links, time-sync).
Oversee SCADA reliability and data integrity (HMI, historians, gateways, protocol converters; interfaces to enterprise systems).
Lead remediation and upgrade projects (hardware refresh, network reconfiguration, security tooling, telemetry improvements).
Establish OT monitoring and incident response (logging/SIEM ingestion, detection, playbooks, drills; remote access governance).
Manage ISPs and telecoms (last-mile, cellular/satellite backup, SLAs) and OT vendors/integrators/OEMs
Govern OT change management and configuration baselines (config backups, versioning, approvals, rollback plans).
Develop and deliver OT cybersecurity and operations training for site technicians and engineers.
Maintain an OT risk register and KPIs/KRIs; provide regular reporting to GM, Infrastructure and leadership
Partner with Corporate IT/Network/Security teams on secure IT/OT integration (identity, backups, SIEM, cloud data flows).
Ensure HSE and regulatory compliance in all OT activities; coordinate with grid operators and auditors as needed.
Plan and execute site travel schedules; build strong relationships with site leadership and O&M teams.
Pre-requisites:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Computer/Control Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related.
Professional training in OT/ICS cybersecurity or industrial networking.
Relevant vendor trainings (e.g., Cisco, Fortinet, SCADA OEMs).
Master’s degree in Engineering/Technology/Management.
8–12+ years in OT/SCADA/network engineering and operations.
3–5+ years in a leadership/manager role.
Hands-on with site assessments, OT hardening, and vendor/ISP management.
SCADA/HMI/historian administration and integration (e.g., ABB, Siemens, GE, Schneider, AVEVA PI).
Industrial networking: L2/L3 design, VLANs, routing, QoS, NAT, ACLs, VPNs, firewalls, high-availability, wireless/cellular/microwave/satellite links.
OT cybersecurity: network segmentation/DMZ, secure remote access, MFA, patch/whitelisting strategies for OT, logging/SIEM, backups/restore, asset discovery.
Windows Server/AD basics in OT, endpoint hardening, time sync (NTP/PTP), configuration backup/version control.
Network/SCADA troubleshooting, root cause analysis, performance optimization.
Leadership and people development; ability to influence without authority.
Strong stakeholder and vendor management; negotiation skills.
Project/program management, budgeting, and scheduling.
Analytical and problem-solving skills; risk assessment and prioritization.
Clear written documentation; effective verbal communication and training delivery.
Willingness to travel extensively; resilient in remote/industrial environments.
Certifications: ISA/IEC 62443 (any), GICSP, CISSP, CCNP/CCNA, CompTIA Network+/Security+, PMP/Prince2.
Direct experience in renewables (solar PV, wind) and/or BESS, utilities, or power plants
Experience with NERC CIP, local grid codes, or critical infrastructure regulation (where applicable).
Delivering multi-site standardization programs across countries.
Industrial protocols and telemetry: Modbus/TCP, DNP3, IEC 60870-5-104, OPC UA, IEC 61850, serial-to-IP gateways.
Skills:
Strong technical expertise in Renewable domain, Software development using cloud technologies Like NodeJs, ReactJs, HTML5, Material UI or TailWind CSS
