How will you make an impact?This is an exciting opportunity to join Thermo Fisher Scientific in Lengnau, Switzerland, as Sr. Manager, IT & Digital Engineering Services. In this role, you will lead critical site IT and digital engineering capabilities that enable reliable operations, regulatory compliance, and technology-driven transformation. You will help integrate innovative technologies into a fast-evolving environment while building a culture of operational excellence, innovation, and accountability.
What will you do?Strategy, Planning & Stakeholder AlignmentDevelop and implement strategic infrastructure and integrated lab initiatives that support business objectives.
Build and maintain strong relationships with local and global teams to identify and prioritize technology needs.
Manage budgets, timelines, and resources effectively to deliver project goals on schedule.
Support site IT budget planning, forecasting, and cost controls in line with the governance model.
Own site IT service performance across workplace services, connectivity, local infrastructure, and site applications.
Lead local incident, problem, and change management with strong root-cause analysis and sustained corrective actions.
Coordinate escalations with enterprise and central teams, as well as vendors; provide proactive updates and thorough post-incident follow-through.
Execute operationally sensitive changes, including maintenance windows, production-impacting work, and cutovers, with robust risk management.
Own site implementation and sustainment of digital products and platforms, ensuring solutions are secure, compliant, scalable, and supportable.
Lead platform readiness across infrastructure, connectivity, environments, endpoint and device readiness, and access management.
Lead integration across site systems, data flows, interfaces, and IT/OT connectivity where applicable.
Ensure alignment to technical architecture, configuration and release readiness, technical documentation, and the operational support model.
Drive standardization and minimize site-specific customization; manage exceptions with clear remediation plans.
Partner with Digital PPI to ensure IT delivery supports adoption and measurable value realization.
Coordinate cybersecurity measures to protect critical infrastructure and data.
Partner with Quality and Digital Assurance on validation deliverables, documentation quality, and control adherence.
Maintain visibility to local risk and technical debt, including obsolescence, lifecycle concerns, and single points of failure, with mitigation actions and timely escalations.
Partner with Engineering and OT stakeholders to maintain clear IT/OT boundaries, ownership models, and support responsibilities.
Lead and develop local IT and digital staff, as well as matrix resources; set expectations and coach performance.
Manage local vendor and partner delivery, monitor SLA adherence, and drive corrective actions when needed.
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
8+ years of progressive IT experience with increasing leadership scope; site or plant IT experience strongly preferred.
Demonstrated success running mission-critical IT/OT services, including incident, problem, and change management, as well as service performance management.
Experience executing local deployments as part of enterprise programs in a matrix environment.
Working knowledge of regulated environments and audit-readiness expectations, including GxP and CSV exposure.
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with a proven ability to drive closure under time pressure.
People leadership experience in direct and/or matrix environments.
Experience in pharma or biotech manufacturing, packaging, or other regulated operations.
Experience delivering digital products or platforms in manufacturing, such as shop-floor integration, operational insights, OEE-enabling solutions, and/or Quality or Lab systems.
Familiarity with ITIL practices, Agile or PMP delivery methods, and cybersecurity fundamentals.
Strong operational discipline, with the ability to build predictable service performance and execution cadence.
