About the role
We are looking for a Senior Manager to oversee the Internal Operations team which includes planning, portfolio management, project management and operating rhythms. This role sits within our Operations and Member Experience (OMX) organization, which is responsible for designing, improving and delivering experiences that reinforce a member’s decision to be with Chime. The Internal Operations function supports enabling OMX to achieve its goals through strong and simple planning processes, reliable intake and portfolio management processes, clear operating rhythms and high quality project management. Successful candidates will have experience managing lean, impactful and successful teams, are experts in all things internal operations: planning, operating rhythms, communication, change management, project and program management. Additionally a successful candidate will be able to speak to extensive experience as talent builders and advocates, their ability to build and execute against a vision, and enable action for and with their teams.
In this role you will guide some of the most critical work in Operations & Member Experience. This role requires strong problem solving and analytical skills, excellent planning and prioritization habits, and the ability to articulate and present information to the team and collaborators at all levels of the business. A successful candidate drives towards simple, scalable solutions to difficult problems, be able to communicate complex issues in a clear and easy-to-understand way, and be able to influence team members across the organization. As an ideal candidate, you have the ability to work on / delegate multiple programs simultaneously in a fast-paced environment, have experience of working with VP+ leadership, and be able to work effectively and influence cross-functionally. You are a strong teammate, who has demonstrated an ability to build relationships, drive alignment and cooperation with team members, and support others to achieve shared goals. You have exceptional organizational and time management skills and can work fast to a deadline and trade off priorities appropriately.
The base salary offered for this role and level of experience will begin at $146,610 and up to $207,700. Full-time employees are also eligible for a bonus, competitive equity package, and benefits. The actual base salary offered may be higher, depending on your location, skills, qualifications, and experience.
In this role, you can expect to:
- Lead a team - Lead a lean and successful team of program managers; oversee the delegation of work, development and performance management of the team, and create an inclusive, productive and fun work environment
- Be an excellent storyteller - Communicate and collaborate with senior leadership on a regular basis, highlighting progress towards goals, key risks and dependencies
- Manage the planning process for the Operations & Member Experience organization, including overseeing the annual planning timeline and major landmarks, mid-year planning activities, communication etc that ensures a high value planning process for our most important priorities
- Be a change management expert - support leaders across the org to cascade information, be responsible for following through and driving leadership decisions through the org
- Oversee the operating rhythm for the Operations & Member Experience organization. This includes designing and managing the corporate calendar, newsletters, ORs, OKR reviews and other forums to ensure appropriate oversight
- Ensure all OMXers understand how they contribute to our goals - As a part of our planning processes, oversee the design and governance of the company’s goal setting process
- Thrive through organization and simplified execution - Create structure and process that enables your team, and other teams across Chime, to move fast and build simple and effective processes
- Other ad-hoc projects as they arise
To thrive in this role, you have:
- A Bachelor's Degree, with 10+ years of experience in a strategy, business operations, and/or consulting role including people management
- Experience leading teams / individual contributors directly.
- Experience in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment.
- Experience leading organization level planning processes at a mid-size company or larger.
- Experience creating, implementing and refining internal operating rhythms
- At ease working with and presenting to leadership (including c-suite executives).
- Sharp analytical and problem solving skills, sound business judgment, with a strong bias for action, can derive satisfaction and meaning by digging deep into the data, thinking from first principles, and delivering the best results.
- Maintains a strongly consistent personal velocity of work tasks; able to successfully manage routine work independently, including self-identification of risks and mitigation strategies.
- Takes an active interest in helping other members of the team meet their deliverables; viewed as a functional expert by colleagues.
- Experience creating executive ready materials and working closely with leadership.
- Critical thinking - the ability to understand strategic business drivers across disparate businesses will be essential.
- Experience in fintech is not required, but helpful.
