What you’ll do:As a Senior Manager in our HR Advisory team, you’ll act as a trusted advisor for managers, helping them navigate complex people challenges with confidence—from performance and capability to team dynamics and organizational change. This is a high-impact, business-facing role where your insight and coaching will directly influence outcomes for our ~200 employees in Germany, the UK, Poland, the Netherlands, and Spain.
The role will be required to work in the office 4 days per week with one flexible day to work from home.
HR Advisory & Employee Relations
- Coach managers to lead with confidence—driving better performance conversations, stronger feedback and more effective decision-making
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employee relations matters across Europe, handling investigations, performance issues, interpersonal conflict, and conduct concerns with professionalism and care
- Provide guidance to managers navigating terminations, leaves of absence, accommodations, and other sensitive situations
- Oversee all aspects of the employee offboarding process, ensuring compliance with local employment laws
- Conduct exit interviews and analyze departure trends to identify improvement opportunities and propose retention solutions as needed
Performance Management:
- Partner with managers to drive performance management processes, including goal setting, mid-year reviews, and year-end evaluations
- Support annual compensation review process, helping managers make informed decisions that balance retention, performance differentiation, and cost management
- Facilitate calibration sessions to ensure fair and consistent performance ratings across teams
- Coach managers on providing frequent feedback and conducting effective performance conversations
Organizational Effectiveness
- Work closely with global colleagues across Talent, Total Rewards, and Global Mobility to simplify, scale, and strengthen how we deliver our people programs in Europe
- Use data, insight, and emerging tools (including AI) to diagnose challenges and unlock smarter workforce decisions
- Support with talent reviews and succession planning, ensuring critical roles are future-ready
- Anticipate risks and identify opportunities to improve retention, engagement, and team effectiveness
- Champion a high-performing, inclusive culture aligned with Northland’s values
Compliance and governance
- Proactively identify compliance risks and partner with HR Services to ensure policies, practices, and manager actions align with legal requirements
- Stay current on evolving employment legislation and regulatory changes across Europe, advising on implications and necessary adjustments
- Ensure every decision balances legal integrity, employee experience, and commercial impact

What you bring:
- 7+ years of experience in an HR Business Partner or similar senior HR Advisor role working with and advising managers
- Ideally, a formal qualification in HR or a related business discipline
- Solid experience in employee relations, organizational behaviour, performance management, policy implementation and employment practices across Europe
- Global HR experience strongly preferred
- Exposure to the energy sector is a plus
