The Opportunity

Cochlear has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Manager – Group Accounting and Reporting based in our head office at Macquarie University, within the Group Financial Control team.

Reporting to the Director, Group Accounting and Reporting, this role is responsible for the end‑to‑end delivery of group accounting, consolidation and statutory reporting for Cochlear’s global operations.

The role partners closely with senior leaders, global finance teams and external auditors to ensure accurate, compliant and timely financial reporting, while strengthening governance and driving continuous improvement across group processes.

This role requires an adaptable leader who can navigate a dynamic environment and effectively tell the story behind the financials through clear insights.

Responsibilities include

  • Lead the preparation of monthly consolidated management reports, including P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow, with clear analysis and commentary for senior leadership and the Board.
  • Own the delivery of half‑year and full‑year consolidated statutory financial statements, ensuring compliance with AASB and IFRS requirements.
  • Manage complex global and multi‑currency consolidations, including eliminations, equity accounting, non‑controlling interests and foreign currency translation.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for external auditors, managing audit delivery, timelines and technical accounting matters.
  • Provide technical accounting advice on significant transactions including investments, acquisitions, divestments and complex commercial arrangements.
  • Ensure strong governance and data integrity across reporting inputs from regional finance teams, Group Tax and Group Treasury.
  • Manage and develop teams, setting clear expectations and supporting capability growth.
  • Drive continuous improvement across group accounting processes, systems and internal controls, including support for SAP and consolidation system enhancements.
  • Drive financial analysis, including trend assessment, variance investigation, performance driver identification, and region‑by‑region sales analysis to support strategic business decisions.
  • Operate effectively in a fast‑paced environment, balancing competing priorities and adapting to changing business needs, timelines, and system or process changes.

Essential

  • CA or CPA qualified (or equivalent).
  • Strong AASB and ASX reporting experience.
  • Proven experience in group consolidation and statutory reporting within a large or complex organisation.
  • Deep understanding of multi‑currency consolidation, eliminations and group structures.
  • Confident stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence and challenge at senior levels.
  • Demonstrated people leadership capability.
