ABOUT FLUENCE

Fluence, a Siemens and AES company, is the global market leader in energy storage technology solutions and services. Fluence is creating a more sustainable future by combining the agility of a technology company with the expertise and vision of two respected industry leaders.

ROLE OVERVIEW

The Sr. Manager, Global Production Planning leads Fluence’s global production planning function across the contract manufacturing network. This role translates business priorities and customer demand into executable production plans by balancing material availability, manufacturing capacity, contractual commitments, operational constraints, and risk.

Operating at the M5 people-leader level, the role manages multiple related planning teams or workstreams, establishes departmental priorities, allocates resources, and implements strategic planning policies. The Sr. Manager also owns global Clear-to-Build (CTB) governance and executive reporting, ensuring leaders have accurate visibility to manufacturing readiness, constraints, recovery plans, and decisions required to protect business outcomes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Global Production Planning and Strategy

  • Lead the global production planning function across manufacturing sites and contract manufacturers, establishing priorities, operating rhythms, and performance expectations aligned with business objectives.
  • Develop and govern an integrated production plan that balances customer demand, contractual delivery requirements, material availability, factory capacity, labor, logistics, and other operational constraints.
  • Implement strategic planning policies, methods, and evaluation criteria; assure adherence to approved schedules, work plans, budgets, and performance requirements.
  • Lead weekly, monthly, and longer-range planning reviews, converting complex data and organizational objectives into clear decisions, trade-offs, and actions.
  • Identify systemic production risks and direct scenario analysis, mitigation, escalation, and recovery planning to protect customer and business commitments.

Clear-to-Build Management and Executive Reporting

  • Own the global CTB process, governance, definitions, reporting cadence, and accountability model across the manufacturing network.
  • Consolidate factory readiness, material availability, capacity, and schedule information into an accurate global CTB view with clear assumptions and data ownership.
  • Provide concise executive reporting on production outlook, material and capacity constraints, schedule exposure, recovery options, and decisions required.
  • Drive improvements in CTB data quality, planning-system integration, reporting automation, and forecast accuracy.
  • Ensure critical issues are escalated with quantified business impact, accountable owners, decision dates, and executable recovery plans.

People Leadership and Resource Management

  • Lead, hire, develop, and retain a high-performing global planning team; set clear goals, define roles, manage performance, and build succession and capability plans.
  • Manage multiple related planning teams or workstreams, set departmental priorities, and allocate resources to the highest-value business needs.
  • Coach managers and planning professionals in decision quality, stakeholder influence, structured problem solving, and executive communication.
  • Establish measurable team objectives and operating metrics, and hold the organization accountable for delivery, quality, and continuous improvement.

Cross-Functional Leadership and Planning Excellence

  • Persuade managers and senior leaders to take action on complex, sensitive planning matters and negotiate effectively with external manufacturing partners, vendors, and suppliers.
  • Build strong formal networks across Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Procurement, Logistics, Program Management, Commercial, Finance, Quality, Engineering, and contract manufacturing partners.
  • Standardize global planning processes, governance, controls, and operating procedures while enabling appropriate regional and site-level execution.
  • Lead cross-functional improvement initiatives that strengthen planning maturity, decision speed, resilience, and scalability across the manufacturing network.
  • Support strategic capacity, footprint, supplier, and operational-readiness initiatives required for business growth.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Operations, Business, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Typically 12+ years of progressive experience in production planning, supply planning, manufacturing operations, or integrated business planning, including significant global or multi-site responsibility.
  • Demonstrated people-leadership experience, including responsibility for hiring, goal setting, performance management, development planning, and resource allocation across related teams or workstreams.
  • Proven experience leading production planning within a contract manufacturing and supplier network environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex operational situations using in-depth knowledge of organizational objectives and translate findings into strategic policies, priorities, and executable plans.
  • Executive-level communication and influence skills, including the ability to persuade leaders, navigate sensitive trade-offs, and negotiate with external partners.
  • Experience establishing planning governance, performance metrics, schedules, work plans, and budget accountability.
  • Strong capability in scenario planning, risk management, recovery planning, data quality, and planning-process automation.
  • ASCM CPIM or CSCP certification preferred.

LEADERSHIP IMPACT

Success in this role is measured by the reliability and transparency of the global production plan, the quality and timeliness of CTB decisions, the organization’s ability to anticipate and recover from constraints, and the strength of the planning team. Decisions made in this position can materially affect production schedules, unit operations, customer commitments, and broader business activities.
