Job Description:

Job summary:

Responsible for leading end-to-end transportation operations and third-party logistics (3PL) strategy across domestic and international networks, ensuring efficiency, compliance, cost control, and strategic alignment with global supply chain objectives.

Key responsibilities:

Strategic and Operational Leadership:

• Develops and executes global transportation strategies, aligning with organizational goals and enabling cost-efficient, reliable, and scalable logistics operations. This includes overseeing domestic, regional, and international freight movements across multiple modes such as truckload, LTL, intermodal, ocean, and air freight.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives across transportation and warehousing.
• Collaborate with senior management to integrate logistics strategy into overall business objectives.
• Leads cross functional projects as directed to achieve transportation and 3PL service improvements aligned with business goals.
• Establishing and monitoring standard operating procedures (SOPs), key performance indicators (KPIs), and benchmarks for transportation and distribution operations.
• Serve as the main point of contact for selecting 3PL providers, ensuring adherence to service level agreements (SLAs).
• Negotiate contracts, monitor performance, and manage vendor relationships to optimize costs and service quality.

Budgeting and Financials:

• Responsible for setting and managing transportation budgets, forecasting costs, and identifying opportunities for cost optimization while maintaining service quality and operational reliability.

Process Improvement and Digital Transformation:

• Drives continuous improvement initiatives, standardizing transportation processes, leveraging technology and automation, and enhancing digital capabilities like Transportation Management Systems (TMS), shipment visibility platforms, and analytics dashboards

Team Leadership and Development:

• Lead and develop a high‑performing, inclusive team by providing ongoing coaching and performance feedback, driving engagement and retention initiatives, and ensuring full compliance with Allison policies while effectively managing employee relations matters.

Preferred:

• Experience with international transportation.
• Knowledge and experience in customs regulations.

Experience and qualifications:

Required:

·        Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, logistics, transportation, engineering, business, or related field.

·        12+ years of progressive leadership experience.  

·        Demonstrated problem solving skills and strategic leadership.

·        Demonstrated ability to lead teams and build consensus with key stakeholders.

·        Strong communication skills, including ability to present and articulate strategic business direction in forums that include executive senior leadership.

·        Demonstrated ability to link corporate operating plans to manufacturing and distribution capacity.  

·        Demonstrated success in decision-making that has had significant impact on the business, most notably: customer satisfaction, operating expense, and regulatory compliance.

·        Experience leading in matrix organizations where influence and negotiation skills are required to get tasks completed.

Preferred:

·        MBA

·        Experience leading in international, multi-site global environments

Travel Expectations

·        International travel up to 25% to establish and maintain relationships
