Responsible for the smooth running of accounting and financial operations through ensuring that financial transactions, processes, systems and procedures operate effectively and are recorded accurately and timely. This includes leading and developing a team of finance professionals based in Sydney. This role will report to the Vice President, Finance, Supply Chain and Treasury and is a 12'months maternity leave contract.

 

You will partner closely and constantly with ResMed’s Corporate and Local Accounting teams, Financial Planning and Analysis team, Global Tax team, Enterprise Financial Services team, and various Supply Chain Operations teams to ensure compliance with legislation and company policies across the Supply Chain group of ResMed companies. As these teams are globally based, the position will require global interactions with concentrations in the US and APAC region. As such strong communication and collaboration skills are needed to effectively liaise with a variety of finance teams, departments, stakeholders, and internal and external auditors. This level of responsibility requires a high degree of diligence and proactive mindset to be demonstrated on a regular basis.

 

Let’s talk about the role:

  • Ensure compliance with all monthly, quarterly and annual external reporting and financial regulatory requirements, including preparation of IFRS financial statements, review of fringe benefit tax returns, preparation of ASIC filings, review of insurance and duties declarations and review/preparation of statistical surveys.
  • Responsible for the accurate and timely closure of all internal Supply Chain month end close activities related to the general ledger, cash management, fixed assets, intercompany accounting and accounts receivable in accordance with US GAAP policies, including preparing various month end close tasks, reviewing the profit & loss, balance sheet reconciliations, reporting packs and tasks prepared by the team you lead.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting policies, SOX, other legislative requirements and liaising with the external and internal auditors.
  • Identifying and assisting in the implementation of projects towards improvements, standardisation and operating excellence in financial processes.
  • Providing training and education of finance processes to various Supply Chain Operations teams including Product, Supplier Alliance, Legal and Quality teams.
  • Continuously train, support and develop a team of finance professionals.
  • Deliver adhoc requests for information, analysis and reporting from various internal and external stakeholders and flexibility to respond to unplanned requests that require soon to immediate responses.
  • Working to strict internal and external deadlines on a regular basis (monthly, quarterly, and annually). In a reporting period that has significant activity long work hours may be required.

  • Ability to communicate accounting matters in a simple manner to non-accounting professionals as well as excellent written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with a large number of geographically diverse teams and resources requiring sensitivity to different business cultures, languages, and accounting knowledge.
  • Experience with preparing consolidated IFRS financial statements.
  • Ability to appropriately prioritise and execute tasks to ensure timelines are met.
  • Prior experience with Oracle or strong aptitude with systems.
  • A high proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint as well as the ability to learn new software and tools.
  • Requires a minimum Bachelor in Accounting or related field.
  • Requires a Current CA/CPA certification.
  • Minimum of 7 years of professional experience.
  • Able to problem solve and work independently.
