We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Manager, FP&A to join our team. In this key role, you will oversee all financial planning and analysis activities for our clinical operations. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including clinical development and operations, clinical pharmacology, and senior leadership, to provide financial insights and strategic guidance. The ideal candidate will have deep experience in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting within a biotech environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Planning & Analysis: Own the clinical trial cost forecasts for all ongoing and planned studies working closely with clinical team, utilizing a deep understanding of activity based cost drivers. Develop rolling multi-year program level forecast, supporting R&D prioritization.
  • Clinical Study Budget Management: Develop and manage budgets for clinical studies, including forecasting, variance analysis, and cost controls. Work closely with clinical operations and external partners to track study costs, manage vendor contracts, and ensure financial accuracy.
  • Accrual Process Ownership: Oversee and own the clinical trial accrual process, ensuring accurate monthly and quarterly GAAP accruals for clinical trial costs and timely recognition of expenses.
  • Strategic Partnering: Act as a financial business partner to clinical development teams, providing decision support, scenario analysis, and financial modeling for clinical trials and R&D projects.
  • Reporting & Analysis: Deliver timely and accurate financial reports, variance analyses, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to senior management and other stakeholders. Ensure transparency in financial performance related to clinical programs.
  • Cost Management & Optimization: Identify opportunities for cost optimization in clinical operations, including reviewing vendor contracts, monitoring clinical trial spend, and managing financial risks.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with clinical, other R&D, and procurement teams to ensure effective financial oversight of clinical trials, agreements, and contracts. Support decision-making by providing actionable insights.
  • Leadership & Development: Prepare and present financial results, forecasts, and key business insights to senior leadership, offering strategic recommendations to drive decision-making. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability within the FP&A function.
  • Ad Hoc Projects: Participate in special projects and initiatives such as process improvements, system improvements, and financial assessments for new clinical initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field. CPA preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in FP&A, with at least 3 years focused on clinical finance or within the pharmaceutical, biotech, or healthcare industry.

Skills:

  • Strong financial modeling, forecasting, and analysis skills.
  • Deep understanding of clinical trial budgeting, vendor contracts, and cost tracking.
  • Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems (e.g., Netsuite, Planful).
  • Advanced skills in Excel and experience with financial reporting tools.

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and influence without direct authority.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a strategic mindset.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
