Navan is seeking a highly motivated Senior Manager, Finance Risk and Compliance to join its Finance team and program manage its SOX program. This person will be responsible for maturing and maintaining our internal control and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance programs and continuing to evaluate the company’s control framework and policies as the organization grows.
A professional that is successful in this role will be able to assume increasing roles of responsibility as Navan grows and considers future plans. The immediate goals would be maturing a public-company ready environment (404((a)) with a roadmap to quickly be 404(b) audit ready).
The ideal candidate must possess a great attention to detail, a focus on automation, and the ability to deliver results in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment. The candidate must also have excellent communication skills as this role interacts with many departments within the organization and works with teams in multiple time zones. You will be in a leadership role to mentor and develop the team.
The role can be based in either of our Palo Alto/San Francisco or New York offices and will report to the VP, Finance Transformation.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead the planning, building, and oversight of the Company’s SOX compliance program and internal control activities.
- Manage internal team or outside contractors
- Support communication and updates to VP Finance Transformation to update senior leadership and the Audit Committee on internal control matters and initiatives.
- Plan, coordinate, and implement SOX compliance efforts, process design reviews and audits with minimal supervision.
- Serve as a key liaison between external auditors/regulators and senior management.
- Creates/maintains SOX risk assessment, internal controls repository, SOX certifications and other documentation, ensuring information is current, accurate and complete.
- Key subject-matter expert on internal controls assessment and integration of acquisitions.
- Leads or assists in special projects, training and education on control, SOX, or other risk management efforts as needed
- Takes initiative to continuously improve efficiency and effectiveness of the program through automation, standardization or streamlining. Seeks opportunities to evolve the ever growing and changing needs.
- Develops and maintains the function’s budgets, performance metrics/dashboards and audit files
What We’re Looking For:
- 8-12 years of public accounting and relevant work experience
- SOX and multinational public company tech industry experience preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field and CPA/CIA certification
- Sound understanding of applicable regulations and internal audit standards (SOX, SEC, IIA, COSO, COBIT, etc.).
- Enjoys building processes and leading projects in anticipation of an IPO
- Ability to quickly understand business processes
- Work independently and thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Knows how to multitask and prioritize workload to meet deadlines
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
- Systems savvy / technology enthusiast; Familiar with NetSuite, Salesforce, Workiva, FloQast
- Collaborative worker / team player
The posted pay range represents the anticipated low and high end of the compensation for this position and is subject to change based on business need. To determine a successful candidate’s starting pay, we carefully consider a variety of factors, including primary work location, an evaluation of the candidate’s skills and experience, market demands, and internal parity.
For roles with on-target-earnings (OTE), the pay range includes both base salary and target incentive compensation. Target incentive compensation for some roles may include a ramping draw period. Compensation is higher for those who exceed targets. Candidates may receive more information from the recruiter.
