Overview: The successful candidate will lead the transformation of the finance function from a cost center into a strategic driver of business value and growth to enhance the Company's financial performance and operational efficiency for this leading Financial Services organization based in Barbados.

A very strategically critical role that will provide support for the VP & Head of Accounting in operations and financial reporting matters in addition to building and overseeing compliance of all operational, administrative and financial aspects of the Company, including accounting, budgeting and forecasting to ensure accuracy and reliability in reporting.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:                            

  • Ensure accurate and high-quality financial reporting and operational activities are completed and delivered according to company policies and procedures, and regulatory deadlines.
  • Analysis of results related to closing and forecasting processes, collaborating across various teams to generate monthly and quarterly financial reports for the VP & Head of Accounting and the CFO.
  • Identity and develop financial goals and targets with the VP & Head of Accounting to build financial models to assist with forecasting and budgeting.
  • Screen and control expenses within the defined budgets.
  • Collaborate with the finance department teams and interdepartmental teams to effectively manage all accounts receivables and payables to ensure timely delivery and settlements.
  • Direct vendor responsibilities such as ensuring compliance with internal control requirements and policies, execute on-boarding due diligence and mitigate risks.
  • Develop and advance initiatives such as defining, scoping, and implementing processes to improve internal compliance operations.
  • Prepare monthly updates and quarterly close procedures in collaboration with the finance managers.
  • Spearhead the development and enhancement of financial and IT systems by contributing to the implementation of new features and ongoing improvements.

Requirements
  • BSc. in Accounting, Finance or related field with a minimum of (10) years’ experience in finance and/or operations.  Professional Certifications (as applicable): Relevant certifications such as CPA / CA / ACCA preferable.
  • Expert in financial systems, spreadsheets and specialist understanding of accounting principles and controls.
  • Substantial experience improving processes, workflows and prior experience and knowledge of automation and technology implementation.
  • Familiarity with relevant regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities timely.
  • Proficient in analytical, problem-solving and data interpretation skills.
  • Team leadership, relationship-building and team development skills.
  • Project management capabilities and experience in managing organizational change.
  • Business Language Skills: Good command of written and spoken English is essential, skilled communicator and professional interpersonal skills, details oriented and proficient collaboration.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in finance and/or operations
  • Professional certification such as CPA, CA, or ACCA
  • Expertise in financial systems, spreadsheets, accounting principles, and financial controls
  • Experience improving processes and workflows
  • Experience with automation and technology implementation
  • Familiarity with applicable regulations and compliance requirements
  • Analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills
  • Team leadership, relationship-building, and team development skills
  • Project management and organizational change management experience
