Job Summary 

The Senior Manager, Finance Data Governance is responsible for establishing, governing, and evolving enterprise Finance data standards to enable consistent, trusted, and interoperable data across The Coca-Cola Company's global business processes, systems, analytics, and reporting capabilities. 

This role serves as the global owner for Finance master and reference data standards, including key Finance concepts such as Cost Center, Profit Center, General Ledger Accounts, Release Strategies/Purchasing Approval Routes, Purchasing Material Groups, and related financial hierarchies and reference structures. 

The role is accountable for defining governance policies, standards, business rules, ownership models, and lifecycle management processes that ensure Finance data remains fit for purpose across enterprise platforms and business functions. The Senior Manager will collaborate closely with Finance stakeholders, Operating Units, Platform Services, SAP product teams, KOAR (Coca-Cola Approver Registry) product teams, and other enterprise data governance leaders to drive alignment, consistency, and adoption of Finance data standards globally. 

As the global Finance Data Governance Lead, this role will provide strategic direction and governance oversight while enabling scalable business processes, financial controls, digital transformation initiatives, analytics, and AI-driven capabilities. 

 

Function Related Activities / Key Responsibilities 

Global Finance Data Governance Lead 

  • Establish and define the vision, strategy, operating model, and roadmap for Finance data governance and lifecycle management. 

  • Serve as the global business owner for Finance master and reference data standards. 

  • Define and maintain enterprise standards, business definitions, hierarchies, attributes, and governance controls for:  

  • Cost Centers 

  • Profit Centers 

  • General Ledger Accounts 

  • Release Strategies and Approval Routes 

  • Purchasing Material Groups 

  • Financial Hierarchies 

  • Other Finance master and reference data assets 

  • Drive adoption and consistent implementation of Finance data standards across Functions, Operating Units, Platforms, and reporting environments. 

  • Establish governance processes to ensure Finance data is consistently defined, maintained, protected, and retired according to business requirements. 

  • Serve as the escalation point for data governance, standards, stewardship, and data quality issues within the Finance domain. 

  • Lead governance councils, working teams, and stakeholder forums to ensure effective decision-making and accountability. 

 

Global Data Standards Management 

  • Develop and maintain enterprise Finance data standards, business rules, and stewardship accountabilities. 

  • Ensure alignment and interoperability of Finance data across enterprise business processes and technology platforms. 

  • Partner with business process owners to understand evolving business requirements and translate them into data standards and governance requirements. 

  • Lead impact assessments for proposed changes to Finance data standards and hierarchies. 

  • Ensure standards support regulatory, financial reporting, compliance, and operational requirements. 

  • Establish controls and monitoring processes to ensure ongoing compliance with approved standards. 

 

Product & Platform Partnership 

  • Collaborate closely with SAP Product Owners and KOAR Product Owners to ensure authoring capabilities support Finance data governance requirements. 

  • Define and prioritize business requirements supporting creation, maintenance, approval, and governance of Finance master data. 

  • Represent Finance business stakeholders throughout capability design, development, testing, and deployment activities. 

  • Ensure workflows, business rules, validations, and approval processes effectively support Finance governance objectives. 

  • Partner with technology teams to improve user experience, operational efficiency, and data quality outcomes. 

  • Support roadmap planning and prioritization activities that impact Finance master data management capabilities. 

 

Data Quality, Stewardship & Governance Operations 

  • Define requirements for monitoring, measuring, and improving Finance data quality. 

  • Partner with Data & Analytics Operations teams to implement data quality controls, profiling, monitoring, and remediation processes. 

  • Establish stewardship responsibilities and governance processes for Finance data assets. 

  • Monitor governance adoption and effectiveness through defined KPIs and performance measures. 

  • Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, and automate Finance data governance activities. 

  • Ensure Finance data remains trusted, accurate, complete, and fit for enterprise use. 

 

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Enterprise Consulting 

  • Collaborate with Function and Operating Unit Finance data leads to establish a consistent and interoperable Finance data ecosystem. 

  • Partner with Data Governance, Master Data Management, ERP, Data Engineering, Analytics, Architecture, and Reporting teams to ensure alignment across enterprise initiatives. 

  • Provide subject matter expertise for transformation initiatives requiring Finance master or reference data. 

  • Support enterprise projects involving Finance data integration, harmonization, reporting, analytics, and AI enablement. 

  • Collaborate with metadata, lineage, catalog, and governance teams to ensure Finance data assets are properly documented and governed. 

  • Research external industry practices and emerging trends to continuously enhance Finance data governance capabilities. 

 

Education Requirements 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, Business Administration, Data Management, or related field. 

  • Master's Degree, MBA, CPA, or equivalent advanced qualification preferred. 

 

Related Work Experience 

  • 7+ years of experience in Data Governance, Master Data Management, Finance Data Management, Finance Operations, or related disciplines. 

  • 5+ years of experience leading enterprise governance, standards management, or business transformation initiatives. 

  • Strong knowledge of Finance master and reference data concepts and enterprise financial processes. 

  • Experience working with ERP platforms such as SAP. 

  • Experience developing and governing enterprise data standards, hierarchies, taxonomies, and business rules. 

  • Experience collaborating with product management and technology organizations to deliver business capabilities. 

  • Experience influencing cross-functional stakeholders in a global organization. 

  • Strong understanding of data quality, metadata, stewardship, governance, and lifecycle management principles. 

 

Skills 

  • Deep understanding of Finance master data, reference data, and governance best practices. 

  • Knowledge of financial structures including organizational hierarchies, chart of accounts, cost centers, profit centers, approval structures, and purchasing-related data. 

  • Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, stewardship models, and operating structures. 

  • Ability to establish and socialize enterprise standards across global stakeholder communities. 

  • Strong consulting and stakeholder management capabilities. 

  • Ability to manage ambiguity and drive alignment across diverse business groups.
