About your team
The Fidelity Business Consulting (FBC) is a high-profile specialist team, acting as a strategy and business consulting partner to all parts of the Fidelity International business (FIL). It participates in some of the most important and visible strategic initiatives within FIL, with daily interaction with the most senior leaders at FIL.
The team supports senior leaders in the research, development, appraisal and execution of business strategies including but not limited to: enterprise vision and strategy, business unit and country strategy, segment strategy, strategic initiative development, resource planning and prioritisation, and performance measurement.
With a scope that is business-wide and global, the team has a unique vantage point from which to lead strategic analyses and projects across the full breadth and reach of the firm.
About your role
Senior Manager is an experienced member of FBC and is expected to independently lead projects end-to-end or take accountability for delivering specific workstreams on large complex projects.
This is a very broad role, and the Senior Manager should expect to be involved in and/or leading multiple projects or workstreams simultaneously, working in a matrix team environment with FBC team members, business unit leads and with functional SMEs from across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
The daily nature and focus of the Senior Manager’s work will be shaped by business priorities, but will include:
- Strategic Research & Analysis
- Thematic Research / Insights - continuously monitor and provide insight into market trends, disruptive innovations and challenges including regulatory changes and competitors, that may have a material impact on the industry, markets, clients and future business propositions in the future
- Strategic Planning
- Strategy Refresh - support periodic process to refresh / update 5-year vision and strategy
- Communication – support communication of strategy to Board & other key stakeholders
- Corporate Strategy, Strategic Initiatives & Project Delivery
- Corporate Strategy - lead projects with senior sponsors (e.g. Business Unit Heads, Country-Leads and Divisional Leads) to define their 3 - 5 year strategy. Combine analysis in market sizing, horizon scanning, customer segmentation / trends, competitive environment to formulate strategic options, and prioritise through analysis and workshops
- Strategic Initiatives - scope, develop and lead delivery of specific workstreams on significant business consulting projects and/ or independently deliver relatively less complex initiatives
- Stakeholder Management
- Contribute to effective stakeholder management key executives, leaders and Board members from across the business
Whilst the role is based in London, occasional travel to other FIL sites across the globe may be required.
About you
Experience and Qualifications Required
- Substantial strategy consulting experience, gained with a top tier strategy, management consultancy or in-house strategy function
- Rock solid understanding of standard strategy models
- Refined, demonstrable range of core consulting skills e.g. structured thinking, facilitation, structured analysis/problem solving
- Experience and knowledge of financial services sector, ideally asset and wealth management
- Financially literate - MBA, CFA or an equivalent accounting qualification is a plus
- Proven ability to manage senior level internal stakeholders and external advisors
- Highly-analytical team player with a ‘can-do attitude’, able to work with minimal supervision
- Experience of building relationships and operating successfully in matrix / ’team of teams’ environments
