At Lummus Technology, innovation thrives, and excellence is a shared pursuit. When you join Lummus, you are empowered to make an impact and be part of a dynamic team that celebrates creativity, encourages professional development, and fosters collaboration.

From our technology portfolio to our global workforce, Lummus is growing at a rapid pace, and we hope that you will grow with us during this exciting time.

You'll be thinking alongside the Global Head of Marketing and Communications, anticipating what's needed, bringing ideas before they're asked for, and eventually finishing sentences before they're spoken. If you're the kind of communicator who leads through the quality of your work, earns trust quickly, and is genuinely energized by building something that matters — this role was written for you.

You are an experienced external communications professional who thrives in complex, global environments—where scrutiny is high, regulation is real, and reputation matters. You understand how credible, culturally fluent storytelling shapes how customers, communities, policymakers, and regulators perceive a company.

You’ve operated in high‑stakes settings where a single narrative, told well, can materially influence trust.

We’re building a communications function where strategy, storytelling, and execution are tightly integrated. In this role, you’ll own local and regional media narratives across our global footprint, amplify executive voices, and ensure every external touchpoint reflects a consistent brand voice—from customer announcements and earnings releases to CEO media briefings.

You won’t be an order‑taker. You’ll think alongside the Global Head of Marketing and Communications, anticipate what’s needed, bring ideas forward early, and help shape direction through the quality of your work.

If you’re a communicator who leads through substance, earns trust quickly, and is energized by building something meaningful in a highly visible, global industry, this role was written for you.

What You'll Own:

Local & Regional Media Relations

  • Own proactive and reactive media relations across local and regional markets in the U.S. and in geographies where the company has operations — building and nurturing relationships with journalists, editors, and reporters on energy, business, and community beats.
  • Develop and pitch compelling, regionally relevant story angles that authentically reflect each market while laddering up to the company's broader narrative.
  • Write and manage the full spectrum of press materials — press releases, media pitches, statements, Q&As, backgrounders, and briefing documents — with the kind of craft and speed the news cycle demands.
  • Partner closely with the PR agency to ensure local and regional media activity is coordinated, consistent, and strategically connected — no daylight between the two.
  • Serve as a collaborative lead on financial and investor-related media moments — including earnings cycles and significant business announcements — working in close partnership with the Global Head of Marketing and Communications to ensure messaging is coordinated, accurate, and strategically timed.
  • Monitor regional media landscapes, track coverage, and provide reporting on sentiment, earned media performance, and share of voice across markets.

Executive Visibility & Thought Leadership

  • Partner with senior leaders to build their profiles as credible, trusted voices in the markets and communities where the company operates — locally, regionally, and across key international geographies.
  • Drive thought leadership strategy and execution: identifying the right platforms, developing compelling content, and placing bylines and speaking opportunities that reinforce executive expertise and company reputation.
  • Support executive social presence — primarily LinkedIn — by helping leaders articulate their point of view, optimize their profiles, and show up consistently in ways that align with placements, earned media moments, and thought leadership initiatives.
  • Prepare executives and subject matter experts for media engagements with sharp briefing documents, talking points, and coaching that gives them the confidence to walk into any room — or any interview — and own it.

Strategic Customer & Enterprise Communications

  • At pivotal moments — a technology acquisition, new platform launch, partnership announcement, or significant enterprise milestone — develop and coordinate the integrated external communications plan that addresses all relevant audiences: customers, media, and financial stakeholders. This means sequencing the right message to the right audience at the right time, so no one hears news out of order and every touchpoint reinforces the same story.
  • Own the customer-facing communications within those plans — drafting announcements, FAQs, and direct outreach that are clear, trust-building, and unmistakably on brand — bringing the same integrated voice and consistency to these moments that you bring to every other external channel.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Brand Stewardship

  • Work seamlessly across Marketing & Communications — with creative, digital, and internal — to ensure regional and external content connects to the enterprise story.
  • Collaborate with legal, compliance, and business unit leaders to navigate sensitive communications with precision and care.
  • Step in as a communications lead during reputational or operational moments that require speed, precision, and steady judgment — drafting reactive statements, coordinating messaging across stakeholders, and ensuring the company responds with clarity and confidence under pressure.
  • Bring a brand-first perspective to every interaction, every piece of content, and every media relationship — because in a team like this, how we show up in every market is who we are.

What You Bring

  • Experience: 12 or more years of experience in external communications, public relations, or a closely related field — with meaningful experience in complex B2B industrial, infrastructure, technology, or professional services environments, including time spent in or adjacent to the energy sector; you’re comfortable mastering technical subject matter and earning credibility quickly, and that matters here.
  • Demonstrated experience managing local and regional media relationships across multiple U.S. markets; international media experience, particularly in markets where the energy sector is active, is a meaningful differentiator. We’re open to candidates who bring exceptional external communications experience from adjacent industries.
  • A proven track record of pitching media and placing stories — you know what makes a great pitch, you build the relationships that make journalists pick up the phone, and you write press materials that don't need to be rewritten.
  • Experience in executive visibility and thought leadership programs, including LinkedIn strategy, platform development, and media preparation.
  • The ability to think holistically — to see that a regional press release, a CEO LinkedIn post, and an enterprise announcement are all threads in the same story — and execute accordingly.
  • Exceptional writing across every format this role requires, from the 300-word pitch to the enterprise announcement to the executive briefing document.
  • Fluency in AP Style is required; the house standard for all U.S. press materials, media pitches, and external-facing content, a discipline which you bring without being reminded.
  • Comfortable working across the tools that make this function run — media databases and relationship management platforms (Meltwater, Cision, or equivalent), media monitoring and sentiment tracking tools (Meltwater, Critical Mention, or equivalent), and LinkedIn's native publishing and analytics environment for executive social strategy.
  • The cultural fluency and interpersonal intelligence to communicate effectively across geographies, time zones, and stakeholder types — from a community liaison in the Gulf Coast to a regional office in Southeast Asia.
  • A self-starter mentality and a collaborative spirit in equal measure — someone who brings ideas before they're asked for and executes with urgency and ownership.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-moving environment where ambiguity is real, priorities shift, and your judgment is not just trusted — it's needed.

Education: Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field; APR or advanced degree a plus.
