Job Summary
The Senior Manager, Logistics position is a key role on the Global Events Team at Equinix, reporting to the Sr. Director of Global Events. This position will oversee the logistics for our portfolio of internal and external events, including Equinix’s award-winning, annual global sales meeting, the company’s annual sales incentive trip, leadership offsites, customer and partner tradeshows and more. Equinix takes pride in putting on world class events that drive results. Our events are designed to support enterprise goals, reflect the current state of our company and industry trends, and create an attendee experience that is both educational and motivating.
The ideal candidate has experience producing large-scale, multi-day corporate events. This candidate is extremely detail orientated with the ability to influence people and drive results. The position requires the unique ability to both think creatively, pushing the boundaries of what is possible while serving the best interests of our stakeholders. This person will be a self-starter, display calm under stress and uphold Equinix values.
This position requires strong people manager skills and the ability to work cross-functionally within the events team and throughout the organization. The role will require both leading logistics for events and leading a team to independently manage their own events. This role is designed for a leader who is a strategic thinker, an effective communicator (written and verbal), and who excels at leading fast-paced and high-visibility projects to successful outcomes.
This position requires significant travel (up to 75%) for site tours and to operate events on a global scale.
Responsibilities
The Sr. Manager, Logistics will oversee an internal team and manage cross-functional projects that include both internal resources and outside vendors. Responsibilities include:
Event Strategy

Determine target audience

Determine event goals and objectives

Establish key performance indicators (KPIs)

Create event strategy, templates, and best practices

Conduct industry and online research for event design

Analyze and summarize performance against objectives to help focus investments and optimize the attendee experience
Event Planning`

Lead the planning process for meetings and events

Construct and manage budgets
-
Lead event planning calls throughout the entirety of the event lifecycle

Lead various vendors as appropriate for each event.

Actively share best practices and innovative ideas

Responsible for event timelines (i.e., sponsorship deliverables, payment schedules, communication deadlines, etc.), budgets, expenses, and fiscal/legal compliance
Team Leadership

Oversee the successful completion of work and the professional development of direct reports

Provides leadership and direction to the team

Accountable for the performance and results of direct reports

Succession planning

Performance management including disciplinary actions and hire/fire decisions/ recommendations

Grow, Perform & Succeed (GPS) process including assessments and Total Rewards allocations of direct reports

Talent development, including quarterly conversations, career pathways conversations and individual development/growth plans

Understands and proactively manages expectations of senior executives including anticipating needs, responding in a timely manner to all requests, proactively offering fresh ideas
Qualifications
-
Requires a minimum of 10 years of experience in the event industry, related to logistics, and executing large-scale, multi-day events

Requires event management experience, with a specific focus on logistics for both internal and external large, scale, corporate events

Requires management experience, including having managed a team of direct reports as well as having managed multiple vendors simultaneously

Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to influence at all levels of the organization

Strong collaborator and leader who will hold others accountable to deliverables

Ability to travel up to 75%
The United States targeted pay range for this position in the following location is / locations are:
• Colorado, Nevada, Rhode Island: $136,000 to $204,000 per year
Our pay ranges reflect the minimum and maximum target for new hire pay for the full-time position determined by role, level, and location. Individual pay is based on additional factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education and/or training.
This position may be offered in other locations. Your recruiter can share more about the specific pay range for your preferred location during the hiring process.
The targeted pay range listed reflects the base pay only and does not include bonus, equity, or benefits. Employees are eligible for bonus, and equity may be offered depending on the position.
