Position Overview:

The Senior Engineering Manager - Mobile is responsible for driving the technical vision for mobile platforms and ensuring high standards of mobile software development. This role balances hands-on mobile app engineering tasks with leadership responsibilities,

fostering innovation and collaboration to deliver high-quality mobile applications.

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field with a strong emphasis on mobile technologies - or equivalent relevant experience

  • Master’s degree preferred

  • Additional 5+ years of experience required, preferably in a supervisory role

Location Requirement: 
This role is located in Tempe, Arizona. This position is required to be in office 4 days per week (Mon-Thurs); Fridays are optional remote work days.
Key Result Areas (KRAs):

Technical Vision Strategy and Hands-On Engineering:

  • Define and prioritize mobile platform roadmap and feature development

  • Evaluate emerging technologies and trends in mobile development

  • Drive continuous improvement of mobile architecture and design patterns

  • Develop mobile applications using native and cross-platform frameworks 

  • Ensure alignment of mobile platform strategies with overall business goals

Mobile Software Development and Enhancement: 

  • Implement quality assurance processes and tools for mobile app testing

  • Ensure compliance with mobile security and data protection standards

  • Optimize mobile app development workflows and deployment processes

  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in mobile applications 

  • Monitor and improve mobile app performance and scalability 

Mobile Software Development and Enhancement: 

  • Manage and train application developers and mobile engineering team, and define key performance indicators. 

  • Lead Mobile App ideation and prototyping sessions

  • Drive cross-functional collaboration to deliver high-quality mobile applications

  • Monitor user feedback and performance metrics to iterate on mobile app features

  • Collaborate with product and design teams to deliver user-centric mobile experiences 

  • Other duties as assigned

Skills:

  • Technical Leadership: Design and architect mobile applications; guide the team in solving complex technical issues related to mobile platforms. Strong experience with Flutter, React Native and native mobile apps.

  • Team Management: Manage and support a team of mobile app developers; ensure team cohesion and motivate team members to achieve their best.

  • Project Oversight: Oversee timelines and deliverables for mobile app projects; ensure projects meet specifications and are delivered on time and within budget.

  • Quality Assurance: Ensure the mobile apps meet all quality standards and functional requirements; oversee testing, debugging, and maintenance of mobile applications.

  • Mentorship: Mentor team members in mobile development best practices, including UI/UX considerations, performance optimization, and cross-platform development.

  • Collaboration: Coordinate with product management, Marketing and UX/UI to ensure that mobile apps align with user needs and company strategy.

  • Innovation: Drive innovation in mobile app development processes and technologies, exploring new tools, frameworks, and methodologies to enhance app quality and user experience.

Physical Requirements:

  • In-Office Environment: Must be able to work in a busy, crowded, and loud office with frequent distractions and interruptions

  • Must be able to collaborate in-person with occasional impromptu in-person meetings 

  • Office Conditions: Adaptability to typical office conditions, which may include exposure to air conditioning, heating, artificial lighting, and varying noise levels

  • Mobility: Ability to sit, stand, reach, twist, stretch, and work at a desk for long stretches.  Must be able to occasionally move or lift office items up to 25 pounds

  • Hearing Requirements: Hearing must be sufficient or correctable to ensure clear understanding of spoken information, including participating in virtual meetings and phone calls. Use of hearing aids or other assistive devices is acceptable if needed.

  • Reading and Writing Proficiency: Ability to read and write in English is essential for processing documents, drafting reports, and following up on necessary actions. Proficiency in written communication is required to handle job-related tasks effectively.

  • Vision Requirements: Vision must be adequate or correctable to perform essential job duties, such as reading documents on a computer screen and using other visual tools. Use of corrective lenses or other measures to meet visual requirements is expected if needed.

  • Technology Proficiency: Must be proficient in operating a computer and other office productivity tools such as printers, scanners, and collaboration software. 

  • Effective Communication: Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with team members, clients, and other stakeholders via email, video conferencing, and other in office communication tools.
