About the Team

At Roku, we strive to make the Roku Operating System the #1 choice for TV brand partners and for consumers alike. To that end, the Roku TV Product Management team is charged with defining platforms and experiences that ensure TV brand partners select Roku OS to run their next generation products and consumers seek out Roku and Roku's TV partners when purchasing their next television. 

 Your team is responsible for the hardware reference designs we provide to ODM partners, the roadmap for hardware + software features that power our core technologies (Picture, Audio, Silicon, and Connectivity), and the roadmap for advanced TV technologies that will propel future business growth.  Your team’s objective is to ensure Roku's platforms are differentiated from the competition in technology, features, performance, cost, and time to market.  


About the Role

The Senior Manager, Device Platforms and Core Tech Product Management will manage the team responsible for Roku’s TV hardware and software platform roadmap, including all core TV technologies and value-add features for 1P + 3P ODM/OBMs. Core Technologies include critical hardware components (SoCs, memory, PSU, TCON, LCM driver), picture and audio experiences, and connectivity features.   In addition, you will be responsible for guiding long-term Device Hardware R&D priorities with Roku’s Advanced Development Teams.

You will be held accountable for:  

  • Ensuring Roku maintains HW BOM cost advantage in all product segments and in all regions in which we compete 
  • Launching a steady stream of impactful and marketable technology advancements in Picture Quality , Audio Quality, and Platform Performance  
  • Creating a culture of continuous improvement in Product Health, Quality, and Reliability  
  • Developing features, tools, and value-add services which contribute to business wins and make Roku stickier for TV OEM/ODM partners. 


What you’ll be doing

  • Own product strategy for Roku TV to drive the global expansion of the Roku TV program for Roku's OEM partners 
  • Develop 3+ year hardware, software, and core technology roadmaps to execute on the strategy and enable partner success.  
  • Build and train an international team of product and program managers to execute your roadmaps. Take direct ownership of key product initiatives where appropriate.
  • Partner with Advanced Development teams to sponsor 5+ year R&D efforts which further your strategic goals  
  • Build processes for managing, maintaining, and communicating roadmaps to ensure all stakeholders are engaged and aligned. 
  • Define and drive success metrics for every hardware product and software feature over the full product lifecycle. 
  • Utilize data analytics, research, product reviews, user feedback and product testing to ensure consistency and quality for the total platform (from hardware to UX) 
  • Build strong relationships with business partners (e.g. content, marketing, advertising, finance, etc.), internal development partners (e.g. design, engineering and data science), and external partners (TV OEMs, key silicon vendors)

  • Experience:
    • 10+ years in a product management or systems engineering leadership role working on high volume consumer electronics 
    • Experience leading the delivery of multiple cross-functional and multi-workstream programs (hardware and/or software) 
    • Experience shipping compelling and delightful user experiences that demonstrate a keen understanding for great design and attention to detail.  
    • Experience leading R&D efforts and bringing new hardware and software technologies to market 
    • Knowledge of the TV industry (core technology, retail strategy, regulatory/certification requirements) a plus 
    • Willing and able to travel to USA, China, EU ; ~10% 
    • Exceptional written and verbal communication in English and Mandarin 
    • BS or equivalent.  MS/MBA preferred
