Position Overview
As a member of the development team, the Senior Manager, Development is a dynamic, creative and detail-oriented professional. Reporting to the Director of Corporate Partnerships, the Senior Manager, Development will manage a portfolio of local and national corporate partners and assist with multiple fundraising events for City Year Chicago throughout the year. The successful candidate understands how their initiative, hard work, and contributions are critical to helping the development team meet the overall fundraising goal of $3,750,000 for City Year Chicago. They do this by managing, stewarding, and supporting a diverse portfolio of corporate donors and providing event coordination and support for City Year’s signature fundraising events.
The ideal candidate is an initiative-taking problem-solver and strategic thinker who is committed to helping advance equity in education by developing leaders and supporting students in Chicago’s most under-resourced schools.

Job Description
Responsibilities
Corporate Giving
-
Manage a diverse portfolio of corporate donors in support of City Year's corporate giving goal of $1.25M in FY25.

Responsible for writing and submission of all corporate grants and follow-up reports.

Work closely with corporate partners to understand their philanthropic priorities and develop customized engagement strategies.

In partnership with the Director of Development, manage and execute detailed stewardship plans to ensure corporate contract deliverables are met.

Collaborate with colleagues at other City Year sites and headquarters staff on national partnerships and multi-site funding opportunities.

Develop and maintain strong relationships with partner organizations, providing regular updates on City Year Chicago’s impact and outcomes.
Fundraising Events Support

Coordinate, manage, and support guest and donor experience for City Year Chicago signature events, including Red Jacket Weekend, Ripples of Hope, MLK Day, Graduation, and other fundraising-specific events.

Cultivate relationships with event sponsors, donors, and volunteers to enhance their engagement and support.

In partnership with the Civic Engagement & Events Manager, plan and deliver corporate service projects at partnering schools.

Manage and coordinate all in-school site visits for stakeholders, including: corporate sponsors, Board members, and Foundation partners.
Fundraising Goal Support

Assist the development team in the creation and implementation of the annual development plan and strategy, including the annual corporate direct mail appeal.

Work with Development Operations Manager to maintain up-to-date records of all corporate donors in Salesforce.
Qualifications

3-5 years of development experience preferred.

Experience working with senior level executives in a corporate environment

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Strong partnership building and event planning skills

Proven ability to multitask across a variety of projects and deadlines

The ability to work the flexible hours demanded of a deadline-driven position

High energy, positive, “can-do” attitude, flexibility, teamwork, and attention to detail; high degree of initiative

Strong passion for and commitment to City Year’s mission of delivering high-impact service to children and schools

Understanding of and/or experience with national service and education a plus

Proficiency with standard business applications: Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint; knowledge of Salesforce a plus.
