Senior Manager - Detection and Response Engineering

We’re looking for a visionary detection and response leader to architect and scale the future of cyber defense at Gong.You will define how a modern, automation-first, AI-enabled SOC operates across a global SaaS company, protecting production, cloud, SaaS, and corporate environments with speed, precision, and strong engineering rigor. Together, we will build a world-class detection and response capability that keeps pace with Gong’s growth, strengthens trust, and turns security operations into a strategic advantage.

• The strategy, operating model, and execution of Detection & Response Engineering within Gong’s Cyber Defense group.
• Detection engineering across SIEM, EDR, identity, cloud, and SaaS telemetry.
• Incident response leadership across corporate, cloud, production, and SaaS environments.
• SOAR and response automation, including enrichment, triage, containment, and investigation workflows.
• Threat hunting and threat intelligence programs aligned with Gong’s threat model.
• The security telemetry platform, including ingestion quality, parsing, enrichment, health, and coverage.
• The follow-the-sun operating model, on-call posture, and response readiness across a global team.
• Hiring, mentoring, and growing a high-performing detection and response organization.
• Metrics and operational discipline across MTTD, MTTA, MTTC, false-positive reduction, automation rate, telemetry health, and hunt conversion.

• Building a modern detection and response function that is engineering-led rather than dependent on manual alert triage.
• Designing durable coverage for the threats that matter most to Gong, including identity abuse, customer-data exfiltration, OAuth abuse, insider misuse, and emerging AI-era attack paths.
• Reducing analyst toil through automation while increasing speed, quality, and confidence in investigations and response.
• Ensuring major incidents are handled with technical depth, operational calm, and strong cross-functional leadership.
• Creating a telemetry foundation that is reliable, scalable, and useful across a fast-growing multi-environment estate.
• Partnering with Corporate Security Engineering, Offensive Security, DevSecOps, IT, Legal, GRC, Privacy, and Communications to drive better defensive outcomes.
• Scaling global security operations without scaling manual work at the same rate.

• Building a world-class detection and response capability that is fast, high-signal, resilient, and automation-heavy.
• Improving Gong’s ability to detect, investigate, contain, and learn from threats across every environment.
• Establishing an operational model where detections, telemetry, hunting, and response work as one integrated system.
• Driving measurable reductions in noise, detection gaps, response time, and avoidable operational effort.
• Raising the leadership and technical bar for cyber defense at Gong.
• Strengthening trust in Gong’s security program as the company continues to scale globally.

• A deeply technical security leader who enjoys building systems, teams, and operating models in equal measure.
• Experienced in leading modern SOC, detection engineering, incident response, or cyber defense functions at scale.
• Strong in SIEM, SOAR, EDR/XDR, cloud and SaaS telemetry, DFIR, threat hunting, and engineering-first operations.
• Experienced in building high-fidelity detection and response programs with advanced automation and measurable results.
• Comfortable leading through high-severity incidents and aligning technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• A builder who believes security operations should create leverage, not just process alerts.
• Collaborative, pragmatic, and capable of influencing across engineering, infrastructure, IT, and executive teams.
• Excited by the opportunity to help define what elite detection and response looks like at an AI-native company.
